Has anyone tried to view the ps3s system files from linux yet? I don't have my own ps3 yet but was wondering. If so could we possibly edit the files to create custom GUIs or add or own options. On a side note what filesystem does the ps3 use?

wish i could get a hold of one to try :-/
running #fdisk /dev/sda p should tell you the partion layout of the hdd and also should give you filesystem info. if we could figure out a tool to edit files for that particular fs then we might be able to accomplish this. |

Nah, that won't give you much. Since the Hard Disk is being usable in Linux only through the Hypervisor, you'll probably see just a 10GB hard disk instead of the whole thing. You will have to connect to a PC to check out the PS3's FS, which I guess will be encrypted anyways..

yeah i bet your right. I read they use a filesytem called SPUFS. which somehow is filtered over the processors to keep linux from getting to it.
I would be really interested in how much info we could dissect out of the hard drive using a pc. |
