I'll assume you have a standard definition TV as you worked through ydltext mode

I assume you subscribe to the terrasoft install support pages so you can go into the video forum and search for the piece of the puzzle you need.

Due to a ****up by Terrasoft in not providing this by default, I believe you need to:

yum install Xautoconfig

set ps3videomode to your preferred resolution or leave at default 1, I think US sets use the default mode 1 (UK sets can use a slightly higher resolution mode 6 for PAL compatible sets)

ps3videomode -v 1 (check as this is from memory)

run
Xautoconfig
to generate a valid X configuration

NOW
startx

will start you in the painful SD resolution. You won't last long at this resolution though

Note if you aren't connected to the internet, you have to grab the RPMS directly from the yellowdog dvd - my post in the forum explains more as that's what I had to do.

Its bloody annoying that I have these expensive DVI monitors that the HDMI connection won't work with because they don't support HDCP.

(And despite some posts saying locking is only for content protected BluRay, the PS3 doesn't output over HDMI for any purpose (games/Linux etc.) without detecting HDCP.)
