Default File Size Limit Exceeded?

I'm trying to dump a movie to my external harddrive, and after 5 minutes I get a "Maximum File Size Limit Exceeded" error. I've tried "ulimit -a" and it shows that I have unlimited file size. So why is it doing this? Anyone know how to fix this? I'm using Yellow Dog 5.0 by the way. The iso file stops at 4gb.

Interesting enough, it seems that the maximum file size on FAT32 is also 4 GB. Is there a way around this?

Thanks.

I assume your external HDD is formatted in FAT32. If so, you're out of luck. 4G is the file size limit for FAT. I'd suggest NTFS but I'm not too sure about the support under linux.

HTH

Why not just use a filesystem like ext2/3?

How do I convert it to ext3? And will I lose the files on it?

Also, I've read that ext3 also has a 2GB file size limit. Is this true?

If your ps3 linux box is networked and you have samba set up correctly, you can just dump directly to a network drive that is shared out on your windows pc.
