I'm just wondering if they will allow it to be in a Linux OS, because to me I think they should only it might lead to pirating. I just want to play games at full speed..

Have you not heard. They already found out a way to backup blu ray disks and they are very close to getting them to run on linux also so the RSX wouldn't really do much to piracy except other emulators such as N64. It was on the front page a couple of time.

Reading raw data from the disk is easy because Sony allowed the blu-ray to be mounted in linux. I have not seen anything about getting close to booting disks in Linux. The only way for that to happen is if they find a way to run unsigned PS3 code (not linux code) in the PS3, which requires someone to find a security hole in a PS3 firmware feature.
On topic: I doubt that RSX will ever be supported since the "Open" Platform design of the PS3 was a half-hearted attempt to appease homebrew developers. An example of a real open platform is a typical PC running Windows or Linux. Those allow people to run and compile any code that they wish (good or evil) without restrictions, provided that the user has admin access to their system.

In fact, they seem to be constantly saying no.I really wish that Sony would come up with a XNA-like setup. It really sucks for all us geeks who want to code our own games to either have a console that allows it but costs $99 a year, or semi-allows it with Linux, but doesn't have access to the GPU. Argh... |
