Unhappy Debian Linux RES help

Ok my resolution for Debian Linux in like 580x480 or something like that i forget (its not 600x800) now i Have installed pS3 videomode but it required GLICB 2.4 and sadly that file is a RPM FILE now i read somewhere that you can change RPM files to DEB files using alien but i'm not sure that is completely safe. Now I am trying to get a 1024x768 display and yes i have configured all of the Xorg.Conf files. I am using a westinghouse 19" LCD 420p 420i 720p 1080i TV/Computer monitor . I need some info on what to do here

Try modifying your kboot.conf file and changing your video mode id.

For 720p in Debian I found this to work in kboot.conf (this lines come after timeout line so it's 3rd line):

Code:
debian='/boot/vmlinux initrd=/boot/initrd.img root=/dev/sda1 video=ps3fb:mode:3'
As for sound, I posted a thread here about it but sadly I got no replies. I did find the answer though, goto http://www.keshi.org/moin/moin.cgi/P...aller/Comments it is answered there (3rd line, counting from bottom).
