Default help with ibm jre 5.0 (java)

i downloaded ibm-java2-jre-50-linux-ppc64.tgz to run on ydl5.0. I unpacked it following the instructions, but im stumped. when i type java it still reconizes the default java 1.4.2 on the system. How do I change the default to ibm jre 5.0 instead or can i use both. It says i need to change the libpath of the old java to jre/bin/classics. I have no idea what I am doing. Im a noob and i been following instruction from this site http://www6.software.ibm.com/sdfdl/1....htm#uninstrpm
sry its a little long. anybody will help me with this.. make it so i can copy and paste im a noob. i unpacked in the folder opt/ibm/java2-ppc64-50 and thats all I have done besides reading a lot of shiet. thanks
