Do this:

Take out any memory sticks, or SD cards out of your PS3. Then, run that command again (dmesg) only with your USB drive installed. BTW: You need to list the following, so we can decipher the message easily:

1. Make and model of your USB drive. (capacity as well)
2. Is it a USB HD drive, or just a USB stick?

Also, when you re-post, post the contents of your fstab file.

Cyanide:

That's what I saw too. But I wanted to make sure that he doesn't run into any conflicts, or having to re-do his fstab settings. If you look at the official install guide, /dev/sdd1 is reserved for the SD stick. What happens to the SD card slot settings in his fstab when he takes up the /dev/sdd1 with the USB? He would need to reassign everything over to make sure all of input slots are working correctly. This is why I asked him to take everything out with only the and mount the USB only. This way, he wouldn't have to worry about changing his settings down the line when he decides to use both his USB and his SD sticks simultaneously.

I am using a 2 GB USB Stick. I can read from the PS3 Game OS. Here are the contents of my fstab file:

Is this a memory stick, or a USB stick that you plug into a usb plug port? Also, if it's usb stick, where are you plugging this into? Are you plugging this into your keyboard USB slot?

Now it's showing /dev/sdc1 This is weird, since /dev/sdc1 is reserved for memory stick, not a USB stick. Also, your device ID is showing up as Gl819, which is a memory stick pro duo.

If that doesn't work, I am not sure.... Never seen any USB storage device mount anything other than /dev/sdf1

Goodluck.

I took another look. It's showing as sdd, which is weird
