stepmania on linux?

i just tried to install linux for my fedora linux ps3 and it didnt work?


does the installer for stepmania work for YDL?

does anyone know how i could get this to run or at least a nother game like it?

You could try installing it. I checked portage (Gentoo) and there is a package for stepmania and it is available for the PPC arch which means that you can theoretically install it.

Not sure about any dance pads though.

Get the Linux binary from here -> http://jaist.dl.sourceforge.net/sour...a-linux.tar.gz
Just open up a terminal and type this:
wget http://jaist.dl.sourceforge.net/sour...a-linux.tar.gz

Once it downloads the file, just type:
tar -xzvf StepMania-3.9a-linux.tar.gz
cd StepMania-3.9
./stepmania

See if it runs. If not, copy the error and paste it here.

i had no probs installing it and there were absolutely no errors but where do i go to run it?

also when i tried to run it because all it did when i typed in what u said was it jus unzipped it to my home folder?

and when i found the skript to run it i clicked on it and nothing happens

Try running it through the terminal by typing ./stepmania
If it doesn't run, there might be errors. Copy those here.

i tried and it said

Bash : ./stepmania.command not found

then i typed: /stepmania after i copied all of the unzipped files to the root of the drive:it came with the following error

Bash : cannot execute binary file

You're supposed to type ./stepmania inside the Stepmania-3.9 folder.
Anyways, now try if this works:
chmod a+x stepmania
./stepmania
Both of these inside the stepmania folder

Okay, from the start. Delete whatever you downloaded.

wget http://jaist.dl.sourceforge.net/sour...a-linux.tar.gz
tar -xzvf StepMania-3.9a-linux.tar.gz
cd StepMania-3.9
chmod a+x stepmania
./stepmania

Do exactly like this, and tell me what error you get when you try to run it (./stepmania)

i dont have an internet connection to my ps3 so can i just download it to my computer

then go to my computer and filesystem then home (root) and put it there then run:

tar -xzvf StepMania-3.9a-linux.tar.gz
cd StepMania-3.9
chmod a+x stepmania
./stepmania
