when i turn on the ps3, and tab to gentoo, it takes me to the screen with more penguins and eventually it takes me to a point where it says: Filesystem couldn't be fixed ![]() Give root password for maintenance ... so i type in my password and it then it says: (none) ~ # has anyone else had this problem, help would be very much appreciated |

Never seen this before. This is very weird. Based your profile, your setup should be very easy since the official install instructions were based on the the 20 GB version. I have a 60GB version, and the instal was very easy for me. The first I installed Gentoo, I followed the directions step by step with 10GB allocated top the Linux partition. Never had a problem. I had to tweak the install instruction on few lines for the 50GB linux partition, and that went very smooth as well... |

hasn't happened to me either. Same story here, installation was pretty easy.
Just a question before I suggest something, did you try putting another fs such as reiserfs? I tried that and wouldn't let me mount it :P, if not, then read on xD What i'd try is, put the livecd in again, boot up the ps3 and try mounting your drive just like it says in the wiki. If you can mount that then there's no problem with your filesystem. If so try checking your /etc/fstab file see if there is anything different. You can check your fstab file by mounting only the /dev/sda1(that is if you partitioned the disk like in the wiki)and not chrooting. Type nano -w /mnt/gentoo/etc/fstab. If that's not it, then try checking our kboot file as well with nano -w /mnt/gentoo/etc/kboot.conf. Good luck :3 |

From where ~PSPIMPIN~ is stuck? I don't know :P
But you can go back to the PS3 OS 2 ways 1-Turn off your ps3, then press and hold the power button(not the PS button in the controller) for exactly 5 seconds. That should take you to the PS3 OS. 2-Turn off your ps3, then press the power button(don't hold) and when kboot finishes booting up, at the kboot prompt type as soon as you see it: boot-game-os. Wait too long to type that and you might be sent to gentoo booting sequence. |

PM me with your phone number, and I'll walk you through it. You're having more issues than anyone else. Frankly, you shouldn't be having these issues unless you aren't following the directions exactly, or potentially mis-typing the setup process. The setup should not take no more than 20 minutes, if that.... Download the tarball you want to install ( I recommend the 32-bit userland for now, since it has better multimedia performance for now....), and copy it onto the same media that you're using for OtherOS install. It should be fairly quick. I'd hate to see anyone go through this amount of frustration. You should be enjoying your Gentoo, not pulling your hair out as if you're using YDL
