Cool PxP Compo entry preview video: Gunnar Hero

Well, I'm working on a Guitar Hero-ish game called Gunnar Hero. I've wasted a day making a teaser vid of it. Here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc4stsQJ79Y

It will be released at the end of the week, and I've got 20 songs lined up to play with it. This video doesn't have sound. But maybe the next one will.

Enjoy.

Ive played a rough demo of this earlier this month. The menus were all f'd up and it only had one song that you couldnt interact with. This looks much further along

omfg...ive been waiting for this ever since i got my psp. can you tells us about the controls? how is the psp held while playing the game?

and of course, it goes without saying that i would like to see the song list, but i know you'll probably wanna save that for the final release.

I'm making the controls configurable. Currently the default key map is: L-trigger [] X O R-trigger, and you strum with down arrow. Any suggestions for alternate defaults are welcome.

The nice thing is that it is compatible with any songs made with the Freetar Editor. There are about 150 already. I'll be including 20 songs by artists who like distributing MP3 (indy bands) with my release.

Wow! That looks great. If you are just using rock/heavy metal type stuff, may i suggest you use all different genres that way it could appeal to more people. Just an idea though.

sounds great! cant wait for the release. also, what is the freetar editor, and what is it compatible with? i also have Frets on Fire on my pc (its free just google it) and would like a better song editor than it comes with.
-= Double Post =-
haha, forgot to mention - i think this will probably be the front runner for the compo. the ONLY reason it MIGHT not win is because it is not an idea from scratch. but it will win :-)

I looked at some Frets on Fire song encodings, and it was a little more advanced than Freetar Hero. The Freetar Editor has sustain, but no whammy bar. Many sites that have Frets on Fire songs also have Freetar versions too.

Check out the editor from http://www.freetar.net/

Edit: fixed the URL. Sorry.

I'm not sure how the judges will be judging the entries, so we'll have to see how it goes. I'm hoping to finish cleaning it up, and get a well rounded game in place.

Bring it on!!!

Heh, actually looks kinda cool. i beat guitar heros 1 and 2 on expert, could use a good psp version. How well are your notes synced with the music? Previous Games like this were horrible compared to Guitar Heros (Sync Wise).

Will Custom Songs be implimented too? I'd love to rock out to Soundgarden or Mad Season...

And I'm guessing there will be non-licensed music included instead of licensed stuff, right?

BTW, that freetar link doesn't work, is it supposed to be http://www.freetar.net/?

I can't include commercial songs. But you can download just the .sng file for a few licensed songs already. Then you just need to supply the .mp3 to go with it.

Yes, you can do any song you like using the Freetar Editor.

You're right about the link, but I've fixed my post now. Thanks.
