Just make sure you learn the PRINCIPALS of programming, and then from there learn the rules and Syntax of the language your learning. You'll be a great developer one day.
Just because lua is a simple language does not mean you can't make something good with it. Besides he jsut said that he is in the process of learning lua everybody must take steps in the learnign process and releasing what they have done so others can help them and encourage them. You guys don't have to be a bunch of *******s.
Thats my part
Good luck learning
Stay on topic. This is not a thread to bash on others.
Apparently, you DO have a problem with this lol.Originally Posted by Emo_Dev

Oh, and btw michaelp - I very first started programming using lua. I never released anything in it though, as I never really made anything, rather i just experiemented around to see whati could do (cursors, scrolling background, draw lines, etc.). Once i had gotten a working computer, however, i learned C and continued up from there.
Best of luck.

...at what speed must I live.. to be able to see you again?...
You can support my Open World 3D RPG for PSP by voting for it here
but as far as the learning goes my learrning is in the hands of my old computer
hmm u r 12 right?... i started making money when im 13;) i fix computer problems... i saved to buy a computer.. then for 6 months i successfully made my custom pc:) im not saying that u take a job, im just saying try to save up a bit.. or do some good things so ur parents give u extra ... good luck on life!
i had a paper route before :)
I'm probably going to keep on programming with lua until I reach high school, then i will move on to C and chase the dream of becoming a programmer , but for now, I will still use lua because I can't get cygwin or pspdevwin32compiled to work properly. Hopefully, I'll be a programmer at Nintendo!
Lol when you get to highschool? How old are you?
13, 7th grade, second semester.
Just thought i would put my "well done" and "keep it up" in, because I think everybody, no matter what there coding level deserves credit.
I, myself cannot code at all (I don't even know basic html) I have looked at lua, php, c/c++/ python and even basic but its all jumbled letters and symbols to me.
I am an artist (in every sense of the term) I have been painting (with oils) since I was five and when I got my first computer I fell in love with digital art (self taught) I'm a wizz with graphics (always have been) and all things related.
I taught myself how to pull a computer apart, put it back together, install any kind of os I wanted, I have such a wide knowledge of computers and software that as part of my business (i own my own art studio/gallery) i also fix computers in my spare time, The reason I say all of this is, even with everything I have taught myself about computers and computer software, I still cannot wrap my head around coding... of any kind... not even lua.
So I say this: congrats to you for understanding something as complex as software coding at such a young age! and here it is... "well done" and "keep it up"
Side note: when i was 12 the only thing kids wanted to learn was how to make the best paper plane (i'm 27 btw) oh how times have changed.
