QJ.net Game Discussion - PSP, Xbox, Wii, PS3, PSP Homebrew, and PSP Guides

Hey guys, I was just browsing the site the other day and noticed a rpg named : Stillgots. I also noted that it has been entered into the xtream lua competition.

I thought , I will give it a try and see what its like.

I looked in the folder before putting it on my psp and I was like OMG.

It's a 100% rip off of my code from my game :"Legend Of Zelda - Linken's Quest"

And I mean 100%. Go download this stillgots game then linken's Quest, and compare them. Hell he has stolen most of the gfx, all of the code (added a pause menu) and pratically 90% of the sounds and images.

This is a outrage, him entering my work in a competition that contains cash prizes.

Does anyone here speak French? As I would like someone to explain this rip off to the site that he has entered a mod of my game at and claimed it to be his own work (as if he coded the whole game (which he did not)

To add insult to injury, he didn't even mention my name in the credits screen!! how cheeky can you get? (even if he had it still would not have been right to enter someone elses work into a competition without there consent or knowledge)

sigh. Don't you hate when morons do this? One time someone took one of my games, changed the graphics, and replaced the print strings with stuff as if it was their own and released it under a different name. Oh well they got what was coming. Just make sure the guys in charge of the competition find out about this and it should be taken care of.

Taking an entire game and rereleasing it without giving credit isn't not knowing how to give credit, it's stealing a game.

Just because something doesn't say it's copyright doesn't mean it isn't. I think in the united states, all original work is considered copyrighted unless otherwise stated in the eyes of the law.

I do believe the law (in the usa) is that if you can prove a date of release then you own a copyright for the material. I hope thats correct. Cuz that other guy is an asshat.

Didn't you have like a splash screen with like a copyright logo? or a disclamer or something?

Anyone can make a logo and day they "copyrighted" it.

Only if he released it with a license do I think he can do something if not then really theirs not much you can do.

Hell I can have someone code a game and not have him release but give me a beta and I can upload it and say its mine? No it doesn't work that way.

Ok, I downloaded the game and as I expected, It had no license so really Zion cant do much about it.
