QJ.net Game Discussion - PSP, Xbox, Wii, PS3, PSP Homebrew, and PSP Guides

first off I would like to say this is not a request just an idea.

after seeing the release of the iphone, and looking at my own pos cell, got me thinking it would be great if my psp was my phone, after all I already take it every where I go, so why not? I haven't down to much research on the subject, but I have found headsets meant for playing games online, meaning that we wont need to put in a microphone. but then there is the problem of getting to hook up to cell phone towers, but maybe we could use part of the gps program. Well as you can see I don't know much about the subject but I just thought I would throw the idea out there if someone hasn't already.

It was actually done a while back by using some hardware modifications.

Show me how you 'hook up' a mobile phone tower with only wireless lan and you'll get a cookie (that is without connecting a GSM/GPRS/HSCSD capable mobile connected to it).
Pointless idea.

ah, sorry, said like as in a guestimate, atleats i was close.

and im pretty sure the cloest anyone got (excluding the other phone thing) was some thing where you could call people form over the internet which wouldnt help at all cause you want a phone...so ya.

Ohh i just finished up my Toaster.. You insert the bread in the UMD slot push the toast button then it beeps when its done. Ill start on this one right away.

Unless you want to completely take apart your psp and a cell phone and some how mix the cellphone reciever into the psp's hardware and then somehow find it in memory and write a sdk for the reciever then write a program to use it as a cellphone .. THen GOOD LUCK

Sony drops the ball on many things. There was buzz about a touchpad keyboard and a peripheral that would let you use your PSP communicate as a cell phone. Sony never made them.

Too bad for them...
