ive decided to amke a tiny sidescroller to continue in my learning curve. I want to make something as simple as an A going side to side when you press sertain buttons and when you press up or something it shoots a . And there would also be V's at the top of the screen shooting back and aaaaw yeh...aaaah getting a bit carried away here but you get it...but i need to know where to start...ive elarned some basic c++ but i need to know things like how to make an A appear at the bottom of a screen and you can move it with arrowkeys and stuff like that...any tutorials people can lead me toi that will help me specificly for makign a game like this? Ive visited many of the popular sites some people wpould usually suggest like pspprogramming.com and cprogramming.com and stuff like that so any new ones? This would help alot...

pspprogramming introduces you to the graphics library, which is very useful. It tells you how to blit an image to a screen, thats almost all you need. With this 'A' that shoots '.', im guessing you want to just use text, which would take alot more time if your just using the debug screen.

so lal i really need to do is blit an image and when i give an order like left it blit another one?

no.. when u press LEFT, you will move X coordinate of picture to the left side

but guys ive looked everywhere...i want to first do this for computer..and theres no tutorial on how to do something like load an image when using the computer...like i use dev-c++ and just put in code compile and test it...i want to beable to load an image there....when i test it....
