Default Need Game ideas...

I'm stuck for ideas on what to make at the moment; I was wondering if anyone had some cool ideas for puzzle games or action games? I want to make something 2D, in lua, because I'm sick of updating all my old projects. Links to good flash games are appreciated as well, since I've ported some before that came out pretty well. If someone gives an idea I choose to follow, I'll be sure to credit them

Any ideas?

hmm, not many RACING games have been made, but u sed action or puzzle. How about a maze game, where you can make your own maps, maybe a game like Acno's Energizer?

how about both? you fight to finish a puzzle, which if completed, unlocks another puzzle and a new fighter which you need to use so that you can unlock certain secrets? Then you could use the secret to fight a fighter to unlock a puzzle which could give you a new fighter? It's a "life-cyle-chain-reaction" thing haha... it's something like a pokemon game only this has more action, puzzle and addiction of willpower to complete the final game.

I've just spent the last 10 or 20 minutes looking into making one of these, i was seriously considering it... I've looked at making Madness LUA, and a game called electric man, a pwnage stick man fighting game-- My problem is, I'd have to have 1000's of images, because lua doesn't support angles... so I guess it'd be really hard, or jsut huge. Its more or less out of the question for LUA coders, IMO.

I'm now gonna look towards the earlier suggestion of a racing game, but again, it'd probebly need angles... I've yet to read to the end of this thread, but still, any more ideas?

Madness LUA would be the best homebrew game ever. Serious, make it.

Jaso, I did look at acro's engineer, and sure its possible and makeable, but I'm not sure if its something I'd like to make. If I were honest, I found the PC game to be quite boring, no offence-- Still, if a lot of people favour it, I could make it a little later on...

I've been looking at a tower defense game, which someone suggested through MSN. The game is quite fun and very addictive, and looks quite simply to make-- how many of you would be intrested in a cross between the below two games for PSP?

aren't there allready a few towerdefence games? I oculd be mistaken tho.

maybe you could make some kind of vib ribbon inspired game now that was one kickass rythem game
maybe you could do it so instead of analysing the music itself, people could make own levels ( abit like stepmania, pspreovlution etc) that would save allot of work for you

Firstly, from what I've seen, there isn't a single tower defense game for PSP yet... and vib ribbon? Never heard of it-- I'm gonna look at it now, see what you mean.

As I said I'm not sure I've been looking into the DS homebrew lately when waiting for my new psp and there where quite a few TD games, so I might just be mixing things up here.

Vib ribbon was a cultclassic realy, PS1 game where you are a wirefigure running along a line, obstacels pass by and you have to pass those by doing button combos, wich can get quite hard when the music is going fast.
You could say: there is a ps1 emulater on the psp, but it can't handle vib (the game needs to load the song etc to memory, wich it can't handle)
and yes,t he game was in 3D, so that whole turning around the line might not be possible in lua, but as I said, vibry based
