How do I listen to music with this?
how do you make it work in 3.52 m33Originally Posted by joek2100
I tried the new plugin plus the provided omg test file and it works, also mp3s work. I assume it has to do with my SonicStage, I am using 4.3.01.14050 and I cannot find where it lets me add/remove the copy protection option. Any help would be awesome.
I figured out what I was doing wrong, I was transfering (as I would normally do with SonicStage) instead of converting and manually transfering. The thing is they still do not play, the display just cycles through the songs rapidly with no audio.
Should this be used with a certain bitrate?

Seems to be working great, I'm testing it to see if I can find any other bugs but for now I'm really enjoying this since I can get my music to work in games again (and just figured out why it was playing my Nakama instead of my music, forgot to change which folder it is directed to).
Thanks for the speedy update, too bad PSPupdates doesn't have the article updated to reflect this.
Just my luck, it will play one song and crash. I can continue playing my game after that or if I don't let the song end I can skip to the next track but otherwise no luck. If it helps all of my music is in mp3 format.

Does the snes emulator still work even if the music.prx is enabled? Just that the music.prx wont work but the emulator still works?

The 0.51 beta fixed a problem i had i think. When i used random in 0.5 and then pressed the combo for next track the song wouldn't play.
And i think snes emulator works fine aslong as i wont try to activate music.prx!
Nice plugin!Glad to see you still update it:)
hmmm my at3plus files now show up on display but when i try to play them my ms light just keeps flashing and they all go in a random order not playing at all.
you are a joke!
(lol see what i did there?)
jokes ftw lol!
Great plugin, will be using soon

Does it just crash on startup, even if you don't press play?
If it does how much music do you have (in terms of # of files/folders)?
What format is your music in?
@Korlithiel: I sent you a pm
@LegolasFett: I also sent you a pm
@nyknicks, chuck67: I think you are having the same problem LegolasFett is having, I'm not sure if this will work but could you try this:
1. Connect your psp to the computer with sonic stage running
2. Find an atrac3 file that isn't working in the list of files on your psp, and delete it
3. Find the file in the playlist on the left (or if its not there, drag the original file into the window)
4. Right click on it, hit "properties", then hit "file info"
5. If the file is an atrac3 already, take note of the format (atrac3 or atrac3plus) and the bit rate
6. Hit ok, right click on the file again, and hit "convert format"
7. If the file is an atrac3, set it to the same format/bit rate, if not, just pick any bitrate you want
8. Make sure the checkbox which says "Add copy protection after completing conversion" is unchecked and hit "convert"
9. Now you actually have two files, the original and the atrac3 without copy protection, so you need to right click
on the file, hit "properties", hit "file info" and in the box where it says "file format", click on the files until
you see it say "copy protection" "available" (If the original was not an atrac3, you wont see this, just skip step 10)
10. Delete the file with copy protection (hit the delete file button) (or copy the file without copy protection to another folder (from optimized files), drag it into sonic stage, and copy it across)
11. Transfer to the psp by hitting the -----> button (check the file after transfering, by right clicking on it and hitting properties, to make sure the transfered file is atrac3/atrac3plus without copy protection)
12. Test the file (hit the reload button first, note + circle, or restart your psp), hopefully its working
A copy protected file would cause all your songs to switch rapidly like that, try the above method, and see if it works.
I don't think anything else would cause the songs to switch rapidly, unless your memory stick is corrupt, but then they wouldn't play in the vsh player.
It might be something else though, if this doesn't work, post here.
@AlecoJohnson, amirulrudy12: I just set it up like any other custom firmware plugin (read the please_read_me, and look at the music_conf.txt if your music isn't in ms0:/psp/music/)
Also if you transfer more music to the psp using usb, hit note + circle (or whatever your reload combo is) to add the new songs to the playlist, otherwise you won't here anything.
I'll try to resolve all of these problems as fast as I can, thank you for your patience

DURR. i checked my config file and noticed the DIR was set to ms0:/psp/music/ instead of ms0:/music/
i feel like an idiot. but now that it's working, i am amazed. great and simple plugin.
I'm on 3.52 M33-2 and I'm also having the problem with atrac3 files skipping through at a rate of 1 every 0.2 seconds
This happens whether the dir for music is set to ms0:/psp/music, ms0:/music or ms0:/omgaudio/10f00 it doesn't make a difference
and anyone who is having hw.prx problems, don't put it (hw.prx) in vsh, game and game150.txt
Btw I have about 80-90 music files so too many files could be a problem.
They are not copy protected.
EDIT ok it seems after testing every file (it wasn't hard with music prx skipping through most of them to get to the working ones) about 10 of them play, i.e. 10 of them don't keep skipping. I just re-encoded them (I triple checked they weren't copy protected) in sonicstage 4.3 and transferred them.
EDIT2 exactly the same problem with atrac3plus encoded files. Not copy protected. The strange thing is is that the files that played when I encoded them in normal atrac3 are the exact same files that are playable in atrac3plus. xxxx works in atrac3 xxxx works in atrac3plus yyyy doesn't work in atrac3 yyyy doesn't work in atrac3plus

I think I found what was causing atrac3/atrac3plus files to play incorrectly, it should work now, as long as copy protection is off, if it doesn't, please tell me.
@T D: I sent you a pm, if this new version works, you can ignore it. I have twice as much music, so that isn't the problem.
Also, If you installed the original 0.50 release and updated, you can get rid of hw.prx, it isn't used anymore.

yup it just crashes when the psp passes the boot up screen. i'm on custom themes if that helps. around 100 songs and 3 folders, all in mp3 format
I can get it to work with atrac, but the songs arent being compressed. They say the same file size but are converted to oga. When I try to convert them compressed I assume its adding copy protection. If you could get on the messenger when you have some free time that would be great.
i have a problem on on listening 2 music in-game
is it because some game don work ?
ok my FW is 3.40OE and i try on a game call "Guilty Gear Judgement"
my song is all in mp3 and i have 34 song
and when my setting is as show below i will get this problem on LISTEN 2 ONE SONG AND IT GO FREEZE MY PSP
music.prx [VRH] Enable
music.prx [GAME] Enable
and so i try this setting as show below i can listen 2 a few song be4 it happen again it freeze my psp
music.prx [VRH] Disable
music.prx [GAME] Enable
Yeah, how does this PRX create the list of songs if it's definitely by the name of the file?
Very nice, liked this plugin, thanks.
I uploaded a new version which fixes some more problems with atrac3 files, please try it if you are having problems.
*The songs still have to have copy protection disabled
To anyone who is having issues with it crashing:
Do you have any other plugins installed?
If you customized your vsh, what program did you use/ what did you customized?
If you didn't already tell me what firmware are you on?
I'm going to try and reproduce the crashes so I can fix them.
It scan through ms0:/OMGAUIDO and DIR (whatever it is in the config file) looking for *.mp3/*.aa3/*.omg/*.oma/*.at3 and "remembers" that file with a number. Then it scans through the dirs until it finds the right file (ie if you have a.mp3 b.at3 c.oma , c.oma would be #3) The most recent file is last.
I think that is what you were asking.
@shortboy: press note + R (default controls) to switch to sequential mode.

Hey, I installed the latest (0.53) and it just keeps going through the hole list and not playing a single song, sorta like its skipping each one. Im on 3.52 M33-2
and the songs are atrac3 66 kbps and the only other plugin I have is the hidefile prx v2.
Try disabling hidefile then come back with results.
hey i need help badly.i want to try this badly but no matter how many times i read thru i still dont understand where to put the file cause no matter how i try i still get corrupted data on my psp.
im using 3.40OE-A
can some one pls email the steps or just any link for me to see?
