Through some coincidence I've visited QJ forums while this post was on the front page.
Alright. Here is the deal.
You create all the content for a new level:
- A New Map.
- 20-40 New enemies with death animations
- 6+ New towers with shots
And record:
- death noises for all the enemies
- 6+ Tower shot and hit noises
(No copy-write infringing stuff. So no starcraft/warcraft images, you must draw everything yourself)
And I'll:
- Finish the XML code.
- Fix bugs.
- Add a few more engine features.
- Do some beta releases.
- Write the XML for the new level and associated enemies/towers.
- Have another release.
So as a plan forwards:
Those who are interested in getting involved draw a map and write a description about it (like what sort of enemies, bosses, towers it will have) It can be a draft, you'll have time to go back and fix it up ;-)
We'll have a vote in 1 week on which one to follow.
From there we work together on the level.
Anyone can draw enemies, towers and record sounds for the new level over the following weeks and I'll piece it all together.
If no one comes forwards to volunteer and help create content then I'm not going to finish the engine. I don't have the time or drive to create the engine and all the required resources.
Register your interest to help in this thread so I can see if this is going to work.

I could and would (time permitting because its exam stuff atm) be ok to make a map design document with enemies bosses and towers etc but i couldn't help draw it or nothing. Unless you want stick people :)

Only the Warcraft PoD works to me. The Vector1, 2, 3, 4 hangs(stop) when i played it. Any idea why?

Hi everyone still following this thread!
I've released an updated version of DSP for iPhone/iPod touch, titled Defense Station Touchable!
Please show your support for DSP by pressuring your iPhone/iPod Touch mates into buying it ;-) (Or even buy it yourself!!)

The PSP version isn't dead however!
I'm doing some finishing touches on getting it functioning correctly and will release an update in the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the ironshod blog or my blog for details:

The difference between the iPhone and PSP versions will just be in the interface, obviously a touch driven interface will not work on a device with no touch screen :-)
This means any maps made for the PSP/Desktop/iPhone version will work on all others (although you can't put your own maps on the iPhone, but I could include them in their if you want).
DST on the iPhone has 5 maps each with 50 waves.
DSD on the desktop (This is the demo version) has 2 maps with 20 waves.
On the PSP version I'll probably release the full 5 maps, 50 waves version, and lock it down so that they can't be used on the desktop one.
There will probably be a bit of an ad for the iPhone version, as that is what it is trying to promote.
Maybe anyone who donates or has donated (or has made a level?) I can give a no-ad version to?
Hopefully we can get some more user made levels made, that would be awesome :-)
The new XML system supports having multiple maps (the place you are fighting on) reusing the same enemies, waves and towers.
So you can do like the flash Vector TD does and have different maps that make it easier or harder, and fight the same enemies on them.

I dont have an iphone but i know a few people who do so I can bug them into getting it. :)
I'm glad its only interface thats different and it's not like that the iphone has like loads of extra features as that would be annoying.

Well, DSP now builds for PSP again!
I haven't ran it on PSP, and I'm pretty certain it won't run or atleast if it does it won't work!
I know that the input code at least won't work, this got refactored a while back....
I'll be spending tomorrow working on it, hopefully to completion.
When I get it going on PSP I'll upload a photo for all to see :-)
More news tomorrow.

cool i really like td games but it seems that version 1a for the PSP doesn't work 4 me.. do i need to downgrade my cfw or there's other option? thanks!
