Yeah it's been really dead...CFW up to 3.52 on the fat PSP, 3.60 on the slim...pre-IPL dumped...custom IPLs developed...pandora's battery...frankly, I'm amazed anyone is still even talking on here!

Maybe one day someone will develop their own custom firmware from scratch...that would surely be some sort of paradise

It's sorry ass people who complain that the scene is dying, that are really quite ignorant. It's not like the new PSP 2000 hasn't been hacked yet or anything. And there's a whole slew of CFW's at your disposal. There's also the super duper Pandora's battery and magic memory stick, but i guess un-bricking PSP's is dying too.

But not as strong as it used to be. Back in early '06 people were releasing crap (mainly WIP that never got finished) like crazy. There were new things to try everyday. Now everyone seems to be releasing ****ty themes. ;_;

In before the 'develop stuff your sellf lol'

Those were the good old days of the PSP Scene

The PSP Scene is now too big. Not necessarily a good thing...

Exactly. I especially liked it in '05 when emulators were being updated every single day.

There was also something to look forward to, but now everything seems too easy and everything we wanted has basically been accomplished.

That's true if you think the PSP scene is all about custom firmware.
Most ppl ignore the real breakthrough material like the speech synthesis port a few days ago.

off-topic: abe, love your avatar.

on-topic: i've been on the psp scene from the start (check out my join date) and i wouldn't say it's dying. sure there were a lot more people trying to develop stuff, but those were the people who were in it for the hype that was created. i.e. the same people who would create wips and never finish them. now, only the hardcore remain, the people who know and realize how much the psp has to offer and hope they can also contribute to the scene someday. even those of us who can't code/program (whatever the difference is) such as myself (even though i did released two little known lua games) contribute in our own way by supporting and encouraging new devs and veterans alike.

It's just because of everything is hacked etc with the pandora , in the past you had things like 2.6 and the eloader everybody enjoyed the user mode games , but now they can play iso's it doesn't interest them anymore and that's a shame if you know there are homebrew like openttd

I officially hate "the scene is dying" people.

Seriously, the psp scene has expanded so much and is biggest scene with hacks/mods/homebrew wise. Its just reaching its limits (or even expanding them with the slim) and A LOT of things have been made possible...its still a great scene. So stfu with these comments already, what else do you want on your psp....

Agreed, for me it's just a matter of time. The scene is stronger then ever, and the developers are better than ever too.

If you stop to think, you'll see that we have more and more developments every day. I myself start a new project almost every week. Of course not all of them are worth mentioning

But if you pay attention, there's still lots of things happening. The scene is much mature.

There's no reason for people to publish flashers every single day, specially WIP flashers (I hate those... so dodgy..)

We do have some people over here with this bloody mentality, but they are being "excluded from the society" almost every day, and that sounds really good to me.

We have great references in development over here, and what was a simple "Child's Game" became a really serious scene. With serious people trying to make our lives better every single day.

No reason for complaining mate. Pay attention and enjoy it...

New CFW is not a sign that the scene is "up and running".

Squarez is a good game. Try it out. And the scene isn't dying its just a lot of new people with no clue are joining the scene, and at the same time a lot of the bigtime hackers are leaving, but in terms of homebrew the major names you probably know don't even make homebrew.

Dying? No. Stale? Yes. Most of the movement in the scene is to keep the old homebrew running on newer hardware and firmwares. There has only been the occasional original game released in recent months.

Admittedly, all the good stuff is happening away from the public eye.

Try Kosmodrones, came out last month or 2 months ago I think. It's at commercial level . I would play it but it doesn't work on my PSP Slim .

You're right the scene isn't dying. But it isn't a hell of a lot of interesting as it used to be. Maybe for the newbies it is, but for many people that have been around since '05 like me-it used to be more exciting back then.

Well, almost everything has been accomplished. Now you can hack everything on your PSP, even unbrick it, and this is really making the community die slowly and painfully. But of course there are still some people like strmnnrmn (hope I spelled that right...) who are still releasing updates to their applications.

And then there are the new good ideas, like QQManto, which I really liked (*hopes that there will be an update to it*) and speech recognition software, which really makes at least me look forward on to something.

And then there is Sony, releasing new firmwares and stuff (Go!Messenger) sometimes. And M33 hacks it and lets everyone use homebrew and new features at the same time.
