iTunes and the new ipods have it.
looks like:

it allows you to scroll through album art to navigate to the music you want.

handy, looks cool, and you'll know what you're listening to (while the PSP's music player organization is lacking.. displays alot, but not information)

Its possible, but we would have to replace the xmb with a custom one, or do like irshell.

hm... what about a stand alone player?

although an XMB integrated player would be much much better.

have a look at this : http://www.n99creations.com/vieweg.php?id=5

it's a cover flow clone.. runs on flash i believe...

Why would you want a coverflow without a touch screen?

I use my PSP for music but I really do not see any value to this idea. If I wanted that sort of functionality I would buy an iPod which does it natively.

To further explain a cover flow without a touch screen means you use the DPad to scroll left or right through the artwork.............. I already scroll up and down on the PSP through the artwork, why not just turn your PSP on its side......... Instant coverflow

why would you want to buy an ipod if the psp can manage it?

i'd also like to point out that itunes uses it and so do the nano/classic ipods.

not only the touchscreen ones (which aren't so.. good* with coverflow)

major lag.

Yeah but what I am saying is that the PSP already shows the coverart at the folder view. The only difference is that it doesn't put the previous and next at a funny angle.

it shows it a a 20px square. (you cant see anything).

and on top of that, not all album art registers.

also, if it's selling the ipods, and it is, it'd be nice to have on a psp.

agree?
-= Double Post =-
also.. over all, compare the psp's navigation to coverflow's.

you gotta agree tha coverflow looks alot better.

Coverflow is one of the pointless thing it only cool for the first few times you use it.....Then after that it just a waste....So there will be need to part it over to the psp since most people hate it anyway...

Most comment also go

I don't hate it, I just never use it. I've never seen a reason to.

I am glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I never use coverflow.

I thought the biggest problem was that it's useless.

its not useless, its just... not something absolutely everyone uses. i mean, c'mon a feature like playing your mp3s, thats something everyone uses. but not coverflow. its mostly just a luxury feature that isnt quite ripe as of yet.

It looks cool the first few times you see it, but after that I just can't see how anyone finds it useful. There's only so much of the same eyecandy you can see over and over.

CoverFlow way of trying to make your digital songs feel more like real albums, that you can touch and look at. It's a nice concept, but it's not especially efficient when you just want to pick some tunes.
THis one is also great
Quote:
Back when you had CDs, didn't you find it annoying when it took forever to flip through album covers to find the one you wanted? Well, get ready to do it again, with Apple's Coverflow.
Coming soon, Apple Trackscratch, a new iTunes feature that will put scratches and pops on all of your music files. You'll think you're listening to a genuine LP record! To add to the authenticity of the experience, Trackscratch degrades the quality and adds more scratch sounds over time, to faithfully reproduce the LP degeneration that technology left behind 25 years ago!

I have looked at it and produce my version and found it to offer no real advantage over the more traditional basic method, coverflow only realy works well with touch screen I think.

Not planing on taken it any further sticking with the list method for melody & Choice

The method of producing it is quite basic and simple, doing the relection first and apply a perspective transition to the result is the key to making it work

it works fine w/o a touchscreen. the touchscreen ipods/iphones arn't all that great.. most of my friends have hem (yeas.. the ipodtouches and it's dissapointing. However, on the nano and classic, it's so much better. same for the PC; where you'd push a button instead of putting a fingerprint on the screen.

what do you mean produced your version?

I really hope this can go somewhere, and it's great hearing from you, xart. i really like your work.

Hmm I could make a standalone cover flow. But what do you have to offer in return?

THANK YOU!!!

lol about time!

haaha.. i have nothing to offer, unfortunately.. i'm sorry, but as you can see... on not on very often, dont have many points myself, and cant donate because i'm not premium.

but i'll throw in TWO cookies.

it would definatelly kick ass... and if it's good, and others would like it, it may be thrown into the XMB by someone. you know?

GO FOR IT!

More than likely it would just be a tech demo EBOOT, and therefore not exactly integrable into the XMB. If you coded a media player around it, that'd be awesome.

EDIT:

BTW making a cover flow is easy :P. THe hard part is the media player And i said Id make a Cover Flow not a media player. And I never said what languge im going to use. HMM Lua or not Lua? C or not C? C++ or not C++. OHH BTW C++ is a fake language and a joke. Meant to make it harder to maintain and program applications. It was never meant to be real. HERES the PROOF!

I like the look of it, the only problem is I can't get album artwork for half my stuff cause I got it from local bands. But I like it.
