Default [Release] Custom Firmware Extender 1.4

This version add the possibility to make some in-game videos. Props to TyRaNiD for the remotejoy code. There is probably some bugs, just report them. Also i can't test the ftpd server function since my wlan switch is broken :/ I will try to fix the reported bugs. Video Capture only tested with burnout and metal gear solid game. Here is some part of the readme :

Quote:
NEWS IN VERSION 1.4
===================

- Tested on M33 52-4 custom firmware.
- Fixed some bugs and probably added some.
- Capture folder for screenshots can now be set in the config file.
- Use the code from remotejoy by TyRaNiD @ ps2dev.org to record some in-game videos. All remotejoy functions
are still available.

MAKING A VIDEO CAPTURE
======================

- On the computer, go to the folder "_release\pc\windows\ gui" then launch "start.bat"
- On the PSP, load a game or homebrew, then push the capture button combo (default is NOTE/VOL+). It seems the psp
will hang if you do this before a game save is loaded. Best is to do this when you really are in game.
- Go back to the computer, in the SDL windows push "c" on your keyboard to start capturing.
- Each frames will be saved as bmp in the capture folder. Note that you must have a lot of free space on your hdd,
and this one must work at a descent speed or you may loose some frames.
- Now you just have to encode the *.bmps using you favorite encoder (VirtualDub will do the job by loading the first bmp).

Oh, God.

I saw "[Release] Custom Firmware..." in the thread title and I dreaded reading the thread.

But hey, it's not another knockoff custom firmware release!

Good work

Thanks for the video capture. Have you thought about video capture on the psp that saves the video as a gif image like the old devhook prx.

Encoding directly from the psp would require too much cpu usage, i dont think it will be possible like this on the fly, but i will probaly add a function to the pc remotejoy application to encode them directly, or provide a little tool to do it.
Also note that some bugs have been reported :
1- In cfe.cfg
enableUsbMass = false; <------- when this is set to true, the prx will not work.
2- when this cfe_vsh.prx is enabled, the psp freezes when you click on the camera icon.
3- when you reset the psp using the reset function in the cfg
resetEnable = true;
The psp will reset, but then freezes before loading the XMB
4- ingame screenshot broken.

I'm fixing them right now.

Great release. Works beautifully. Any chance of a full screen stream so that it works like a faux tv-out?

Since the video-capture is based on Remote Joy, just search the forum for "Remote Joy"... it allows you to play full screen.

Yes i assume that there is no enough memory available to load the browser while capturing.

The old prx for devhook that captured video on the psp did slow down the psp, but 333 speed usage was not that well used back then. Isn't there a way you could increase the speed 333 and allow the psp to capture on the psp itself. The psp might still slow down just a bit, but most people want just want it for capturing those short little moments.

It would require the psp to be able to write at more than 10mb/s on the memory stick wich is impossible.

The video-capture function is a very cool addition... now let's just hope that DemonX manages to speed up RemoteJoy a bit. "Vice City Stories" gets captured at only around 6 FPS. "Virtua Tennis World Tour" on the other hand runs perfectly!

By the way, is there a complete list of the key-combos for all the CFW-Extender additions?

Check the Readme... it's more complicated than just using the button-combo (which is "NOTE & VOL+").

How can I make it so that I press more than 1 button to activate a certain feature? This seems a tad bit more complicated than other .prxs and config files I've worked with...

So Cpasjuste do you plan on continuing RemoteJoySDL?

If so could you add better support for the fullscreen? On a wide screen monitor it does not fill the screen but squeezes a 4:3. That could be put in the bat as something like -w so it will be 4:3 without it. Also add a double size support for the window mode. That way it has half, normal and double.

I was looking though the remotejoy.exe and was wondering something.

Code:
-p port : Specify the port number
-i ip : Specify the ip address (default %s)
-m mapfile : Specify a file to map joystick buttons to the PSP
-d : Auto enable display support
-f : Full screen mode
-r drop : Frame Skip, 0 (auto), 1 (1/2), 2 (1/3), 3 (1/4) etc
-c : Full colour mode
-l : Half size mode (both X and Y)
-s : Show fps
-v : Verbose mode
Ok my question is the -m. I was wondering if anyone knew how to create this file so I could map the analog stick.

This is by far the best release so far.

EDIT:

I forgot 1 thing Cpasjuste. I hex edited the remotejoy.exe so that the dll and exe files are in a dll folder and edited the capture to go it its folder by ../capture. I think it would be a good idea to do this in a future release so that the folder would not be full of all the files.

EDIT2:

Forget what I said about the mapfile. I found out its for your PC controllers and to map it to RemoteJoy. I wish the analog stick on the PSP was mapable to 8 keys so I can play some games which require both the analog stick and d-pad.

If anyone wants to eliminate a batch windows heres how.

Open Notepad and paste the following code
Code:
CreateObject("Wscript.Shell").Run """" & WScript.Arguments(0) & """", 0, False
Save as invis.vbs

Open Notepad again and paste the following code
Code:
wscript.exe "invis.vbs" "start.bat"
Save as start2.bat

Run start2.bat and now only the RemoteJoy.exe window will be visible with the PSP screen instead of three windows.
