If so, is it stable, and what data can the functions get-- just the current location I assume? And anyone know the smallest distance measurable by GPS?
Reason I ask is that I may have to get back into PSP development in the future (and buy the GPS add-on) if there is such homebrew support. __________________

Yes.
Search for a program called MapThis. It is a full featured GPS application that uses the PSP GPS Receiver (or other ones) to connect to satellites.

Man.. GPS can be used to make a truly awesome gaming experience. I have one idea in particular for what would be a portable gaming device focused on GPS and a certain other technology (one which I don't believe is in existence yet, but I'm pretty sure would be implementable), and the game that it would be intended for.. I'm not going to post about that publicly, though.. Google, for example, is a giant snowball of patents just looking for ideas to accumulate (including ones they won't be putting to use within the next decade or two).wq |

There's a game called The Shroud, for cell phones, which uses GPS capabilities inside of an RPG. Not sure, but I think it may be online, too. I'd like to do something similar if such is easily supported via the current homebrew SDK.

GPS functions and sample program here:
http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.p...&highlight=gps I'd still go for a serial GPS and just write your own NMEA parser if you want to aviod the headache caused by using the PSP290 unit. |
