Thumbs up [Release] Battery Percentage at the XMB (BatteryInfo v0.1)

Well, I know it's yet another battery information display at the XMB.

Yesterday a friend asked me how to blit text at the XMB and I've made him an example (thanks for introducing me vshblit coolJ)

As I was bored today and someone asked me about blitting the battery percentage at the XMB, I decided to write this quick app.

It's pretty simple and written in a few lines.

So, if you still don't have such thing, I recommend using mine.

Basically it displays the battery percentage at the top on the left hand side of the XMB, so it won't bother you at all.

I shall be doing some font and colour updates in the next version

Also, there's a read-me in case you don't know how to install it.

UPDATE:
This is the verson without the black bakground

Cheers

meh it works on 3.52-4 fyi and also suggestion, make it possible for users to change the position of the plugin because it might interfere with some peoples custom themes

Yes, I've just realized that. I guess it's because the PSP takes sometime to "understand" how much battery it has.

I'll put a milisecond or two in the delay and it should be fixed

Thanks for the comments guys

Although that might fix the bug (I highly doubt it), it is definitely not the best way to conquer this one.

Accounting for every possibility of power state returns is a better way to fix this bug not simply adding a silly delay.

Never do a half-assed job at fixing bugs or you'll end up making more sooner or later. If you start off with good form you will find your programs less prone to error and easier to fix if a bug does jump up.

Do you even know what we're talking about?

I think you should try to read everything again. I'm not saying I'm gonna fix the bug with bubble gum and duct tape.

Of course it's good to find a solution, but sometimes, this "silly delay" might be the solution.

So.. Don't bull s**t me with your messages if you're not sure about what you're saying.

Cheers

Hehe don't worry. Basically if you want I can send you a "Hello World" example later on. It's pretty much the same, but your makefile changes a bit.

Cheers

I'm not so sure I want to respond to this. If I do decide to, I will respond later. Maybe by then you'll have thought things through.

Anyway, you should include a screenshot (with your release announcement) so people know what they're getting.

I know who Evilseph is, and I don't wanna confront him at all. But I just don't think that it's very constructive to come and say people are doing "Never do a half-assed job". If you have some constructive thing to say, I'd accept it. I also mentioned in the very beggining of the thread that it's still version 0.1 and that I should be doing some updates along the time. I'm always very happy to accept constructive opinions, or even good ways to improve it.

Evilseph I'm sorry about the "harsh" talking on my previous post, but I just don't find it very constructive to receive this kind of comment.

I'd be very happy to have some advices of you about how to fix that "bug".

Indeed, I just started with PSP Programming, and am always learning new stuff. As mentioned on my first post

I'm not asking anybody to be my mentor/tutor, but as it's a Developer forum, it's always nice to have some mentoring from more experienced PSP Developers.

I see some developers here like Matiaz, Raphael or yaustar who are usually more than happy to help people around. And they get nothing for that.

Cheers

Not at all. I do have dev status because one of the admins thought I was cappable of that, by releasing some HB's.

Don't you think it right? Also, I have to ask.. How come you don't have?

Cheers

It takes one release, regardless of how pety it is, even if it's LUA.

That's how I got my developer title, :/...

But i justified that later with my work in FWi, and CASUAL FW. Hehe...

Yeah, that's right. But honestly I don't think people should care about dev status, as the name says, it's just status. I don't develop to have status. I develop 'cause I like it, and occasionally I release when I think it can be of someones use

Well that's just my opinion

Of course not. You get premium if you pay for premium

My advice is:

Develop something for you first, and if you think it's worth releasing, do it.

I have like 50+ HB's at home I'd never dare to release.

Cheers mate!

To be very honest, I always feel very happy when developing HB's for the PSP. I've been a developer for 10 years already. I've done everything, from programming languages where you had to put number in lines

Code:
10
20
30
To languages where you just open a console and tell it what to generate

But I find it always very exciting to crawl again. It's nice having to look for documentation again, asking question in forums, be happy when a "hello world" goes well etc...

And it's also cool to be able to help people sometimes with some nifty apps

Ohh shoot.. I'm feeling a bit old today

Cheers

Well you get to post in the "Developer's Dungeon" forum. A bit annoying having to ask for dev status just to be allowed to reply to something there.

Speaking of which, who exactly grants dev status around here?

yeah, who exactly grants dev status? there must be more to it than releasing apps or voddkaa would have been granted dev status a while ago, i mean how many of his apps have made front page - 4? 5?
