This is a discussion on Mix the cube ! within the PSP Development Forum forums, part of the PSP Development, Hacks, and Homebrew category; Hello, i have made a rubik's cube game for the psp (the first version was for the devsgen conquest), it's ...
this is very, very, very nice!! it even uses the PSPs code to save and load data. but i cant get it to work. I select new profile but my PSP crashes.
Same here.. maybe a bug in the release version...
That is so cool. Though I have the same problem :)
It's being a very nice month of releases!!!

The problem is because you put it in GAME150/ folder or you use 1.50 firmware, please put it in GAME*** (*** = 352, 371, ... regarding version of custom firmware).
I will see why he doesn't work on 1.50.
Thank you ;)
nice work, i have a beta of one hardhat(team sushi) is in the middle of making which unbelievable but i have no idea when he plans on making it a public release :S
Spoiler for LOL:
It's on game here. Should I put on game352?Originally Posted by Sinasquax
Yes you should put it in GAME352 folder (you can also set your GAME folder to use 3.52 kernel (in recovery menu) but it's more complicated)Originally Posted by placo23
I have tried it in the GAME, GAME371, and GAME150 folder but it always crashes when i select new profile
Mmm very strange, i will install 3.71 custom firmware to test it, i have used 3.52 when i programmed it.Originally Posted by vodkkaa
Very fun. I need to get a real rubiks cube. :Jump:
Very nice job, same bug here on 3.71, but the game is fun nonetheless
Wish I could sole it >_>

I have the same problem, after some differents tests with differents PSP, i think the rubi's cube works on PSP Slim & Lite but no working on PSP FAT (i'm french, sorry for my poor english)Originally Posted by vodkkaa
No, i have a FAT psp but with 3.52 custom firmware and all works fine, i install now 3.71 to test on it.Originally Posted by xav35
I have installed 3.71 custom firmware (version 3 with 1.50 kernel add-on 2) but before i have downgraded to 1.50 and all works fine.
The only problem is when the program is installed in GAME150 of a custom firmware because the custom firmware doesn't copy vsh modules (like utility modules) of 1.50 kernel.
So if you install it on a 1.50 firmware, use only kxploit patch or make yourself the kxploit and if you install it on a custom firmware, use the game*** (*** = version of custom firmware) folder.
If you still have problems, please send me by PM your psp configuration (nickname, language, firmware version, ...)

So no chance of it working on 3.03 OE?
Are you supposed to do anything with that images folder?
Just install it in GAME303 folder.Originally Posted by Art
Images folder contains alternatives wallpapers and textures, you can choose them by the profil option menu.
I have made a possible fix, please test it and tell me if it's ok.
You can download here the fix, just replace old eboot.pbp with this eboot.pbp
Thank you ;)

Ah awesome. This is much more convenient than carrying around a big old rubiks cube. Reminds me of my days of speed solving for fun. :3
Works now for me with the new eboot, thanks, looks real good :)Originally Posted by Sinasquax
Works here too. This is really amazing.
The chotto shot go cam support. will that let me control the game with my hands? That would be very cool if there was collision detection of my hands and they would turn the cube. Is that watt that is?

I haven't played it yet, but I highly doubt that's what it's for. I think it's just so you can use a custom background for the game.Originally Posted by soopergooman

I'd like to know if it won the competition.
I think it is a very good program, but I can't keep up with it
as if it were a real cube in my hands.... not that I was able to solve it anyway.
I would like to see what would make a Rubik's Cube game judged better if
this one didn't win the competition.
I thought about entering the competition but knew nothing of 3D so gave up.
I think it would be really interesting and fun to see a TWO PLAYER version of Rubik's cube where both players are playing against each other to solve it.
It would play sort of like Tetris, where the more "correct moves" you get in a row (combo them up) the harsher it will punish your opponent by undoing the work they've done.
For example, if you manage to correctly get all the colors on one side, it might treat it like a "super-combo" and really lay some hurt on the opponent.
To punish the opponent it would spin random stacks of cubes on their rubik's cube, mixing them up, and the better you do, the more it mixes up the opponent.
At the same time, the better your opponent is playing by lining up the blocks correctly, the more punishment you take by it "undoing" your work.
You could even throw in "power up" blocks like:
Bombs which blow up portions of the rubik's cube. The blocks that are "blown up" just disappear for a short time until they regenerate. While the blocks are missing, the cube can't be solved.
Lightning that "electrifies" the opponent, stunning them and slowing them down. It would prevent them from making a rotation for 5-10 seconds.
Speedups/Slowdown that make the rotation animation faster or slower. This allows you to solve the cube faster, or slow down the opponent.
"Glue" which would prevent the opponent from being able to rotate one random stack of cubes on their rubik's cube.
the power ups would appear on a certain stack of cubes, and if you rotate that stack into the correct position (ie, power up block surrounded by same color blocks), then you trigger the power up.
A battle to see who completes the cube first.
Anyways this is a really great game. good work!

This was my first idea when i began to use the camera but it's complicated (detect hands move and interpret it fast), so i just use the camera as a video background.Originally Posted by soopergooman

There is a bug on resolve detection function, on some cube configuration, he tells that the cube is resolved when he isn't.
I will fix it as soon as possible.
