This is a discussion on [Update 4/7/2008] FreeRadio 1.8: Portal for the FW 3.80 Internet Radio Player within the PSP Development Forum forums, part of the PSP Development, Hacks, and Homebrew category; I've given up with trying to to change the stop button, as I can't find a way to do it. ...

hi guys, does anybody know is it possible to use Winamp Remote with this FreeRadio? Winamp Remote is able to stream in .asx, .pls, .flv i think.
but is it possible to make it work with this? maybe add it in raw streams.js or something? |

How about changing stations in the m3u streams? I have a bunch of stations in a .m3u playlist which I wanted to transfer onto my PSP, but apparenty, FreeRadio only plays the first one on the list or something. I also tried converting the list into links in the browser section, but when I click the links these websites pop up just as I would write the address in the browser, the ones that show listener peaks, etc. It does have a "listen now" button, but instead of playing it, it asks where should it save the file.
Awesome program by the way! PS. Another good option would be picking a random station out of the list. Last edited by clerlic; 03-15-2008 at 08:09 AM.. |

Version 1.8 is here, at long last. Not much to report, unfortunately, but it's a bit faster now.

Make the browse button open the page in a new tab instead of having that frame on top (window.open opens a new tab switches to it).
Add some kind of "parsing" system where if you provide a link to an M3U in the station list, it should get the individual entries and you should be able to skip to the next/previous track. M3U normally contains paths to songs relative to the location of the M3U file, so you could probably assume the current URL to be the root directory (window.location.href) and look for the MP3s relative to that from the M3U. But if someone has hosted the M3U, then it most likely contains absolute HTTP paths. I presume its impossible to display the playlist after parsing unless you preallocate some SPAN tags and change them when required, so just keeping it in memory and displaying status info in a SPAN field should suffice. Something like "Track x/50: Title" with Next/Previous buttons. |

Wow, first time i've tried this and i have to say, its far more impressive than i expected it to be.
Faster, more stable and more useful than PSPRadio has probably ever been, and so openly customizable. Great job, FreePlay. @sykotik: I'll look into that. I'm 100% sure it's possible. All you'd need is the appropriate stream link and the appropriate web link. Might post a tutorial if i get it to function. [EDIT]: Oops, i thought you were talking about something else. Not sure if that one will work. I'm trying to work on another solution.

Ok, I have a shoutcast server that I've been trying to connect to. I set it up correctly in streams, adding the "url
ort","title", to the streams file like it says. I can connect to it and it pulls up the name of the song that is being played, but unless I set the winamp shoutcast source plugin to use mp3 encoding I can't hear anything. The encoder I'm trying to use is aac+ v2 instead of the mp3 encoder, which is just a quick change of a dropdown box in the shoutcast source plugin encoder config, I've also tried the v1 encoder too with no luck.I'm using a phat psp with 3.80m33-5 and version 1.8 of FreeRadio, is there something I need to do or change or does the aac playback in this thing not include the aac+ that winamp/shoutcast uses? |

i recently was able to finally get broadband and then set up a wifi. so i tried the official internet radio player for my psp and think it kinda sucks so i grabbed freeplay's music player. which by the way, thanks a ton freeplay for not only making this but for letting make skins for it so easily. i looked around and wasn't able to find any skins i liked so i made one for myself today.
i'm not sure if anybody wants this or not, but here are the screenshots from the three main screens of free radio. but here is a link. http://www.sendspace.com/file/75vc7l ![]() credits to freeplay for making a skinable radio player and to whoever it was that originally made the ifreeradio skin that came packaged with the download. i modified the main nav-icons and replaced the compass with a web icon. there is still one thing i would really like to do but i'm having a rough go at it. it involves the stop player button. i'd like to not only reposition it, but i'd like to insert my own icon in place of it. i've already made the icon but its obviously not in the current skin. if somebody could help with that then that would be awesome. |

I seem to have a problem with the "Convert a remote playlist into a stream page:" feature. In case of an .m3u playlist, the window shows all the stations and links to them very well, but when I click on them, it asks me to open a new window, when I do that, (if I don't, nothing happens), it opens the SHOUTcast D.N.A.S Status page (Here's an example.), if I click on "Listen", it asks me to download a file listen.pls, but not play it. Other buttons are equally useless.
In case of an .pls playlist, it gives out like 3 links per station, neither of which work. It asks to open a new page and then says "the content cannot be displayed". I've tried loading the list from both internet and memory stick itself (ms0:// etc.), it didn't have any positive effect either. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated, of course I could modify the MyStreams.js or whatever, but it's time-consuming and I have too many stations in my playlists, plus I periodically add new ones. Maybe a better converting tool straight to the .js file? Thanks! PS. Also that thing with playlists that Torch mentioned would be really helpful, like skipping songs within the playlist. |

My old PSP Broke yesterday and had to rush to buy a new one which had newer firmware. But fortunately I found this program and it works really well.
If I could suggest one thing, Can you make the the info scroll to the side automatically? Sometimes the info on the streams are too long for the screen to display and I think adding scrolling would let you be able to see what your listening to. |

Hello,
I just registered to say that all the shoutcast streams won't play anymore. I think, it's because they changed the website, the url for the streams is now "http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=XXXXXXX". I wasn't able to change the code myself, so I'm looking forward for an update, hopefully. I like the freeradio player a lot and big respect and thanks for it to you, FreePlay! And sorry for my english, I'm no native speaker. =) *edit* There's also another new url which is more like the old one: "http://classic.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-playlist.pls?rn=XXXXXX&fi le=filename.pls" Last edited by myjko; 11-11-2008 at 01:21 PM.. |

Shoutcast.com has changed all station IDs. The old list is not working any more. I just grabbed the top 50 stations list from shoutcast.com today. I hope you guys like it. Always thanks to FreePlay who created the wonderful program for us.
