nice dl'ing :)
hi kid, it's not the wallpaper changer, it's the restrictions on what you can use as a wavepaper... look for comments from Hellcat earlier in this thread for his explanation. I too would like to use 480x272 for a wavepaper but I suspect that's beyond the purpose of this tool.Originally Posted by xbskid
Theese limits accour due to how the FW internally manages the stuff.
When the filesize gets too big, it overwrites (a.k.a. bufferoverflow) the parts of memory where the icons are stored.
And overwritten icons are dead icons. (error code 0xDEADBABE - joking! ;))
Oh, and did I mention this is mentioned in the README? ;)
I'm wondering if the BTCNFedit homebrew would help the issue with ram...If the boot config was edited to load the wallpaper changer last it might be possible to stop the disappearing icons...temporarily. Either way they will still be fairly slow to load.
You have to remember that the ram on the phat is pretty minimal xbskid. If you have other plugins or high res xmbs it might mess with it.
I'm well aware, that a little bit offtopic, but related somehow:
Is there any app wich can view PTF theme on PC? Or is this possible to code such app?
I always thought Custom Theme Converter could open PTF files, extract pictures from them and such?
No way, this program can only create and save PTF, you can't even view the file contents.Originally Posted by JaX3RiR
I guess that creating an app wich can actualy can extract something from PTF is not so easy (that's the reason why I can't find such programm), but only viewing those files will be enough for me.

No, completely unrelated.Originally Posted by fatmarley

Got a quick bug report. The theme randomizer freezes the XMB if it tries to load CXMB's "default.ctf" file from the theme folder at random, or presumably any other type of file that might find its way there.
This had me worried for a while, as I thought I had corrupted my flash0 somehow. I've been playing with the new CXMB version and decided in the end that I'd rather go back to the original XMB and PTF themes, and I forgot that it generates that file now.
I need some refreshing of memories :)
I am currently working on the new version and can't remember:
- what file is changed for the waves? (and/or what inside that file)
- why are we loosing the gameboot again, when doing this?
Disabling the .PTF changing (like requested) and randomizing/changing the gameboot already seems to work

Yes, indeed, me and the Wallpaper-Changer assumed that only .PTFs will go there
I think a simple extension filter (sort of *.PTF) when building the filelist will do the trick.
Are you referring to the 'system_plugin_bg.rco'
didn't understand the second question...
Yes, I think it was the system_plugin_bg.rco :)
The second q' was, because some1 said the gameboot wouldn't work anymore when patching the waves....
It is a bug of some kind, if the system_plugin_bg.rco isn't the original one, and you are using a wallpaper, the gameboot will not show and instead you will only see your wallpaper and hear the gameboot sounds.
I've never seen a system_plugin.rco (other than the original) which would work with a wallpaper and a gameboot.
BUT: if you are using the wavepaper from flash0 as your background, it works fine.
Edit.. Hmm, I just noticed this, my theme (Large Original II Midnight Black) works with a custom wave and background.. The gameboot is just fine - I think this might be because my theme is compressed, and most themes aren't.
So, if you've got the gameboot changing/randomizing plugin working, would you let me "beta-test" it? If you don't want it released for the public, could you PM me the link or something? Thanks.
I really like the wallpaper changer, but I've come across a bug. I noticed after installing the wallpaper changer, that the popsloader menu would no longer come up for PS1 games. It would just go straight to the game and if it was using the wrong pluggin, would crash or malfunction in some way. After experimenting with turning the pluggins on and off(I only have 2, popsloader and wavechanger), nothing fixed the problem. So I experimented with deleting either the vsh.txt file or the wavechanger.prx . That's where I found that by deleting the vsh.txt file and then rebooting to the recovery menu, and re-turning back on the popsloader pluggin(because it turns itself off for some reason after doing this) everything was back to normal, with the exception of the wavechanger of course. I've read many posts on different sites of ppl saying that the popsloader menu no longer works on 3.90 m33-2. I have found that to be completely false. I just think that there are some pluggin compatibility/conflict issues that even turning off the pluggins won't help. I really like the wave changer alot but I have to choose my PS1 games over it(which is a bummer). I hope you can fix this. If I was a programmer, I'd help, but at least I narrowed down the problem a little, which is about all I could do.
IF you are having plugin problems look at all of your .txt files in seplugins and make sure there is not an empty line at then end of a file. If there is then your selections in recovery will not work properly.
for example good
for example badCode:ms0:/seplugins/recovery.prx ms0:/seplugins/wpchanger.prx
SO...after your last line in .txt DO NOT PRESS ENTER, end the file at the end of the line.Code:ms0:/seplugins/recovery.prx ms0:/seplugins/wpchanger.prx
If you highlight the text in the code windows you will see the 2nd one has blank spaces on the blank line below...if thats how your file is delete all of the blank space up to the x in prx.
I got a beta of 1.20 ready.
Who likes to test it -> PM me, and you'll get the linkage :)
You need a tester for 1.20 still? I can try it but I don't use a custom gameboot. I would only be able to try the ptf disabled function.
I have also noticed that when using wpchanger.prx, I can't use antiupdate.prx at the same time.
For people that don't know, antiupdate.prx hides the UMD Update.
Hmm, ya, that could be due to the IoOpen hooks.... with antiupdate hooking it aswell (considered is does hook it, dunno) it would be AT LEAST three hooks/patches to the same syscall *lol*
Talk about overkill
I might look at that :)
I think it somehow uses IoOpen to load the update file (umd0:/PSP_GAME/SYSDIR/UPDATE/EBOOT.BIN) from somewhere else, eg. umd0:/PSP_GAME/SYSDIR/UGAZAG/AGAGA.AGA, which of course doesn't exist and it will not be shown in the menu.
Yes this was myself...With your wallpaper plugin, I use a custom name wave it will not let me see my game boot only hear it but if I install my original wave in works fine...something with your wallpaper plug in, xmb wave, & game boots are not completely collaborating with one anotherOriginally Posted by Hellcat
Your the one who found out it was the xmb wave that caused this problem for me...THANK AGAIN! I'd rather have my gameboots & wallpaper changer than my waves but all 3 would be great!!! But, to add to that a GAMEBOOT changer wooooot Sweeeeet idea....Originally Posted by JaX3RiR
1.20 is already in the pipe, I think I'll have it ready by monday, or so :)
It will then be able to change gameboot, waves and fonts as well
Wow, if you've got many theme files in your mem stick in the right folders, then you'll have a completely original theme every time you bootOriginally Posted by Hellcat
Hmm, what about a CTF file changer/randomizer?
Hmm, maybe :)Originally Posted by JaX3RiR

(first post has been updated and contains new d/l as well :)
- added option to disable PTF changing/randomizing
- added randomizing/changing of the gameboot
- added randomizing/changing of custom XMB waves (system_plugin_bg.rco)
- added randomizing/changing of XMB font
- added file extension filter for scanning directories
i.e. it will now only fetch .BMP for wall-/wavepapers, .PTF for themes
and so forth....

BTW: All without touching flash0:! :)
It doesn't ;) It simply changes a few bytes in the string that holds the full path towards the update file on the UMD so that it can no longer be found, which means it won't be shown either.Originally Posted by Hellcat
Even though you could add the thing to your IoOpen hook As for now, that patch is done with a dynamic search, adding it to your IoOpen hook saves some booting time :) Just make it return an error when umd0:/PSP_GAME/SYSDIR/UPDATE/EBOOT.BIN is opened.
I might also have a better way to take care of the IoOpen hooking (yes, before VshControl does it's patches, without breaking VshControl's hooks) instead of the IoCancel mess ;) I'll tell you more via PM later if you want

Is JPG not possible?
BMP filesize is big, takes up a lot of space ><
Cos I got like 400 over wallpapers :P
One day, I'll add a few more image loaders, like for JPG or PNG :)
Many thanks Hellcat for this soft, but it doesn't work for me, like the 1.14 not working too.
i have a slim&lite with 3.71m33-4 CF
I' tryed so many way, and the wall paper doesn't change, all the time the same.
I f i change manually the wall, the next reboot i ve had the last same wall, i must disabled the plugin and change manually to have an other wallpaper !
