Project4 Offical Theme Competition!

First off, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, if its not I'm sorry and could someone move it to a more suitable place?

With Project4's offical release coming up on the 24th, I want to get an offical theme going too, I've opened up a competition of sorts on my forum, along with a list of specifications and images required.

I'm still not so sure if "shell" is the best way to explain it... this doesn't cover up the XMB, but removes it (unfortunatly, would be nice to be able to use the XMB still for some things).

Yes, in Open Beta 4 (last release) I switched back to EBOOT format once I found a quicker and cleaner method of patching, no more win32 .exe files.

The original patch was firmware specific (well, there were 3, one for the OE/LE firmwares, one for 3.5X, and one for the other ones at 3.60 and above). The later versions took ages to install, so I switched to .exe format so the patching process was done by the computers speed and not the PSPs...

Open Beta 4 uses a new patching system, which works on all firmwares to date, and patches very quickly, about 10 seconds, so was re-coded for the PSP.

I also say cleaner, because I only had to make one installer, and I spent about a week making it, it has no problems that have been reported. It installs fast, has caused 0 bricks, and the unpatching/uninstalling has also caused no bricks. The previous versions I had to spread my resources between the installers, and I admittedly made sloppy code with lots of bugs in. It caused some semi bricks for those who read the readmes, and those who didn't ran it incorrectly and fully bricked.

I would certainly consider if there is a skin already made for this app to where I can design my own skin, slice it up and replace the original.

I agree with Psypher, you should really include a template for 'ease of skinning'.

Well there are plenty of skins out there on the forums that can be used as a base, but the whole point of this is to get an original theme, not take someone elses and use what you like.

I am working on a theme myself as an example, but between that, programming Project4, and a social life its taking a while.

Its not a shell, its a total XMB replacement. Does a lot more than your standard shell
