As I'm learning the GU it's becoming readily apparent to me that unless I'm going to be making games with nothing more than basic objects (cudes and pyramids, etc) I'm going to need a program to create 3D sprites in that will spit out vertex sets for each frame of animation or something.
I'm guessing that such programs exist, but as I'm almost entirely new to 3D graphics in game design I don't know what programs they are. Does anyone here know of a program that I could use to create 3D models and export vertex lists that I could then use with the GU? I could write a script to convert anything that will give the needed data into the necessary format.
I've worked with 3D Studio Max to create brief animated 3D movies way back in High School, but other than that I know very little about 3D graphics design.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
