[Release] Stakker PSP Idol Edition
IMPORTANT: Read Idol Edition Notes!
After winning the great PSP-Hacks Homebrew Idol 2008 Competition, I'm glad to announce the fresh Idol Edition of Stakker PSP. As announced earlier, the Online Highscore table has been resetted, I wish all of you out there good luck for the top rank in it
Back to the release itself:
DescriptionCode:Author MK2k / www.mk2k.net Name Stakker PSP Version Idol Edition (Stakker won PSP-Hacks' Homebrew Idol 2008 Contest) Platform PSP (Custom Firmware) Dev-Details Developed in C++ using the JGE++ Engine by Dr. Watson, Chipmunk Game Physics by Slembcke, some functions from PGE courtesy of InsertWittyName Soundtrack Thanks to DJ Runningman of Firewall Records, Stakker PSP comes with DJ Runningman's Warped Sense of Humour Track.
Stakker PSP is a fun game of building up and destroying towers made out of falling blocks. Build up your tower on the platform and don't let any piece fall off. If you reach high enough, destroy it with a projectile coming from the left and get points for each piece falling off the platform and bouncing against the screen borders.
Idol Edition Info
Everyone who downloaded the previous version should download the updated (link below)!
1. MP3 playback also from ms0:/PSP/MUSIC
2. Crash regarding the loading and listing of mp3 files (hopefully) fixed
3. In-Game platform is a bit higher now, loosing a level because of dropping a block too fast is less likely now (but still can happen)
4. Anti-Cheat implementation (play the game, don't take it apart :-P)
Features
* Heavily physics-based Gameplay
* Online Score System
o View and upload your best attempts to mess with the best in the world!
o You can also point your web browser to http://stakkerpsp.mk2k.net/scores/
* GameShare
o Send this game over to your friend's PSP and have a nice fight for the first place in the online list :-)
* MP3 Playback
o Automatically loads your music files in mp3 format from ms0:/MUSIC
o Plays back 44kHz mp3s in all bitrates you could think of
o Skip tracks, stop and start the player right in the game
* Use your own Background Image
o Just put a file called theme.jpg in Stakker's directory and it gets loaded as the new background (standard size should be 480x272)

Notes
Read the readme.txt for installation notes and read the ingame instructions for button configuration. The game comes with 4 EBOOTs which consider different situations to help the one or other out running Stakker PSP, details in the readme.txt.

So this is an updated version, yes! The last version kept freezing on me, I had issues with the MP3 player function, I wanted to stop the music and it would always freeze if I accidentally hit the analog. Thanks for the updates, hope you continue, this is one of the best home brews for a while! Thanks! How were people cheating on this?

Haha why you want to cheat?
This game is great, even my girlfriend likes it and she doesn't like the PSP.
Good news about fixing the platform and mp3 player.

Natey: tried the different EBOOTs? If that doesn't work out, try with a freshly formatted memory stick for a start.

This works great and I love it. But do you think you could add music/folders support. I have to copy my music to the root of the music folder if I want to listen to it in game. It's no problem but would be better if I didn't have to do this.

This game just froze on me twice,
I fire my rocket at the stack, and when all the pieces fall sometimes
it doesn't start the next level, it just sits there as if waiting for more blocks
to fall over and be converted to points.
Can you add a 3 second timer so after the rocket is fired and the blocks are
converted into points, it waits and if after 3 seconds of no block/point conversion it automatically starts the next level?
Looking forward to a new more stable version.

Oddly this has yet to happen to me. It may take a few moments but the game isn't frozen for me. I was actually dreading that this might happen but Stakker seems very stable except for the music and sound stuttering.
