[Release] Mario Gold Rush
SafariAl released his new Homebrew Game "Mario Gold Rush"!
Well, I finally worked up enough time to finish it. Here's Mario Gold Rush, a game that I've been working on for a few weeks. Just a note, this was a project that I started to see what I knew. This was made to show myself how to be dedicated to a project. That being said, this game may not be updated too much if not at all. I've decided I'm going to go on and pursue a larger project. Please enjoy the game, and if you have any questions, please post them below. Information from the readme:
--Objective:
The objective of Mario Gold Rush is pretty simple. You want to try and collect as many coins and points
as possible before you run out. There are two types of coins, a red coin and a yellow coin. Yellow coins
are the normal coins worth 1 coin each and count as 350 points. The Red coins are worth 2 coins each
and count as 725 points. It's really your decision as to whether or not points are more valuable than the
number of coins you collect.
--Features:
1. Yellow coins - worth 1 coin each, worth 350 points each
2. Red bonus coins - worth 2 coins each, worth 725 points each
3. Ability to change time in the options menu
4. Ability to change number of red coins in the options menu
5. Ability to fly - similar to the Super Mario Brother's 3 raccoon flying engine

Mirror by zLouD (me)I hope you enjoy this game, if you'd like to help at all with the next project, please contact me via private message. Same goes for if you want to look at the source code.

The graphics were very nice and I thought the presentation was very well done.
My only problems were that there wasn't much reason to keep playing after the first couple of times and sometimes the sound spiked which was annoying because I was wearing earphones while playing it so it hurt my ears(I know it is just a bug and is not really your fault). I also had no idea how to fly at all until I stumbled upon it by accidentally pressing the circle button as I was going back and forth(was it by design that you made this a little hard to understand how to do?).
Basically, I liked it I just wish there was more to do. Like some other homebrew this went into the recycle bin after I tried it for a while. I would love to see you work on some bigger things because if this is any example of what you can do then I can't wait to see a more complex program by you.

That bug is do to the coin sound overlapping itself on the same channel. If there was someway to check which function was being used, I'd gladly fix it for ya. It was also mentioned in the bugs/to fix list of the readme.
That's why the control menu was added on to the main menu. IT first tells you how to run. Then tells you to run for a bit the jump to fly.
I'm going to try to see what I'm capable of doing. All I can tell you is that, well, it'll be yet another mario related game

Can't you be original, instead?
It's just that whenever I see "Mario" in a homebrew game title, I immediately think "cheap lua knockoff". It shouldn't be hard to change your graphics.

Sorry for the late reply. This time I do have my own graphics. I would make an original game, but I have no pixel artist, making it hard to create a sidescrolling game that is 'mario-like'. The graphics I'm using can be viewed via this map test:
Here
I'm sorry if you think of most mario games that way. I develop them because it's something I enjoy doing. Hopefully the game after the next will be original. Thanks for the response.
