    Default [RELEASE] Recovery Flasher

    ********** **********
    Code:
       H E L L C A T s   R e c o v e r y   F l a s h e r
     =====================================================
       * recover semi-bricks * up-/downgrade your CFW *
       * flash *ANY* CFW directely to almost any other *
       * backup/restore firmware flash (not NAND dump) *
       * make and restore NAND dumps *
        >> all without Pandora <<
     =====================================================
    >>> *D*O*W*N*L*O*A*D* <<<

    What is this? And why?
    ========================= ===============

    Short version:
    --------------------
    • Flashes a fresh M33 CFW (everyone from 3.71 up) for recovering semi-bricks or to up-/downgrade CFW
    • does not use Pandora, runns from the recovery menu or the XMB
    • does not use (as in launch) the original Sony Updater (only extracts all required files from the original .PBP)
    • runns fine on CFWs lower than 3.52-M33-3 - handy for upgrading older FWs w/o the "need to go 3.52, then 3.52-3, then higher" odyssey :-)
    • runns fine from TimeMachine (3.40-OE on Fat and 3.60-M33 on Slim)
    • can backup the FW flash and restore selected parts (XMB theme, settings, PSN activation, complete firmware)
    • can make and restore full NAND dumps

    Long version:
    --------------------
    Can be found the the README! :)

    Latest Update:
    --------------------
    v1.60
    • Updated 5.00-M33 installation to revision 6
    • Changed autonaming of new backup folders to include date, firmware, psp model
    • Made the resurrecion.prx replacement function working on all DDCs from 6 and above
    • Added detection of PSP 3000 and PSP 2000 TA-088v3+. Flash writing functions will be disabled on those PSPs as they are not CFW capable and flashing would result in a brick
    • Added support for "Firmware Packs" - theese, like addons, packs will eliminate the need for a complete new release only when a new (C)FW is released. Instead of releasing a new Recovery Flasher it'll just be such a pack, enabling Recovery Flasher to install the new firmware until an update of the main app is done that supports the firmware natively. Can/Will also be used for making Recovery Flasher install CFWs not supported, like GEN and such.
    • Added complete checksum-check of the updater .PBP going to be used to avoid corrupted/incomplete .PBPs causing a brick
    • Added full verify of the NAND dump that got written to be sure you have a good one
    • Added detection of HEN mode
    • Added detection and propper handling if a backup set contains OFW instead of CFW (like when made from HEN)
    • Added better NAND dump handling. New dumps are now created with names similar to the (new) backup slot names (and now go into /flash-nanddumps), incl. an ID for the PSP they are made on, on NAND restore a list is shown with all available dumps matching the ID of the current PSP to choose from (the ID matching should prevent choosing a wrong dump accidentally)
    • Added back/cancel on backup creation and restore
    • Backups made from HEN mode are tagged to identify them as containing ORIGINAL firmware (as those backups do!)

    >>> *D*O*W*N*L*O*A*D* <<<

    Code:

    ========================= ===============

    One purpose of this app is to downgrade the CFW of the PSP.
    I define downgrading much as "go as low as you can" and 3.71 is the
    lowest firmware that runns on both PSPs, Fat and Slim.

    From there then, you have the freedom of upgrading to any other FW
    you desire - thus no higher one for this.

    *lol*, yeah, this is why

    Nevertheless, I am already working on implementing 4.01-M33-2 install - on the Fat it's even working already! :) Just need to resolve one last issue on the Slim to get it "release grade".

    The next version will also come with an additional .ELF binary, that can be used from a Pandora DDC stick, so once 4.01 installation is working you can push the PSP straight to 4.01 from Pandora as well.
    (EBOOT version still flashes anything stright from 3.02-OE upwards without Pandora :))

    Nice Hellcat, many people (like myself) waited for this kind of tool. But just keep in mind how 3.71 M33-1 is dangerous: http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=82859

    Additional "backup NAND" feature would be very nice ;)

    Good job Hellcat! A non-pandora CFW recovery menu restore. Now that's old-school IDStorage and NAND dumps would be useful for future versions, but you've already covered the essentials (PSN, settings) already! Top notch job!

    Great!

    I have a Pandora but a higher layer of security never hurts ;)
    Unless we're talking about Sony firmwares :P

    Yeah, I do have to agree that 4.01 M33-2 install would be also useful.

    Thanks, this will save alot of time for people who can't make a stick. It's been too long since we've had a recovery application.

    Explain what you mean, as in another CFW timemachine can load from the memory stick? Or install the 3.71m33 onto your nand from timemachine which is my understanding of the readme.

    I assume Hellcat is correct. He must of found a way around it because as far as I know they are dummied. I must be wrong.
    Sorry for that misunderstanding.

    *lol*

    To clear up some confusion:
    It doesn't run the 3.71 from TimeMachine, the app itself runns fine from a 3.40 or 3.60 launched via TM.
    And it can then flash the 3.71-M33 while running from TM - even on 3.40 on the Fat, where the updaters usually can't run

    It also runns on 4.0x, your PSP seems SO bricked that the kernel got damaged as well....
    blah? blah!

    ...So basically, the app accesses the NAND in any case? I'm still confused

    Also, can this run under HEN? This app might be useful in future downgraders should Pandora be totally blocked. (If custom firmwares do have HEN built into then, then this app should work on a non-CFW PSP).

    @Brawla: This app works perfectly on my Phat PSP 4.01 M33-2 so what Hellcat suggests is prolly right.

    Good to see you back again Hellcat.

    I'm also looking forward to the 4.01 M33 addition.

    I have my Pandora Battery/Memstick for all the 3.xx CFW, but since Dark Alex hasn't released DC w/ 4.01 M33 I always have to manually install it.

    Nice app, Hellcat. Love the message it displays when you exit the program. ;P
