Default [Game] Picture This

Download: http://members.cox.net/mathfacts/zips/picture.zip

Objective:
In this very simple game, you compare the pictures to find the 8 differences.

Study the picture that you see. Once you have a good image of it in your mind, press the square key to see the modified picture. When you are looking at the modified picture you will have a red square that you can move around. Highlight the image where you find a difference and press the X key. This will mark the picture with a yellow square. You can swap between the two pictures by pressing the square key again. Continue marking squares until you have identified 8 differences. Once you have marked the 8 spots, press the triangle key to see your results. The game keeps track of your time so you can compare your results with a friend. You can press the right bumper to turn on background music. Press the circle key to skip to the next picture.

I wrote this for my kids after we played this in a magazine. It contains 6 pictures; about 1 to 2 hours of play depending on how sharp you are. Since I modified the pictures, I cannot really play it. My hope is that some of the people that download it make their own pictures so I can play! I've included instructions that explain how to create your own pictures.

I'm not sure how to post homebrew here, but you can download it from the website in my sig.

You need to have at least 10 posts to be able to post links. And thanks. I like these kinds of games.

Wow, neato. How did you get Developer stats so quickly?
And why are we suddenly being assaulted by a whole bunch of game releases? There were no major releases for a while and now there are tons.

Anyway, nice job. Me likey.

That would be because of the homebrew competitions going on right now.

cool nice release, i always wonder when someone was going to make something like this for psp. i think it would had been better if the player can see both image at the same time, maybe make a split screen effect and show the same position from left to the right. almost like in the arcade where you see both image at the same time but anyway great job on it and good that you have developer statue

For those of you that have downloaded the game and read the "how-to make your own pictures", are the instructions clear enough? I really do hope that people start making new ones. I want to play too! I can host some pictures at my site or maybe they can be hosted here...

BTW I got dev status a long time back when I entered a contest here and that was part of the "prize." Enough on that I hope.....

Mathfacts -

Nice game ... I've liked these types in the past ... even better to have it portable, on the PSP.

As for adding images ... once I dl'd it I will see what it takes to do once I dl'd and get a chance to see how to do it ;-)

Also if you need somewhere to host images that people create LMK via PM.

Keep up the good work!

Ya Me and Mk2k needz dev status xD If not me then at minimum Mk2k. But yeah seriously the way QJ is handing out dev status is crappy. Hell I have more than 4 front paged things, and no one thinks about dev status xD, and then some people with lua buttons testers have gotten it. Quite a ****ty system if you ask me.

EDIT:
Btw Ok game, keep working on it Try adding some animations or something to make it more lively and less bland. And more challenging

tutorial seems pretty easy to use but it would be nice to have a template...so you can load the image and see exactly what you are doing ...iam not very good with picture apps ...what did you use to make the grid ?...

anyway great little game...to bad you cant play your creations(you already know the answers) ...an other idea (or option ) you can incorporate would be to find a list of objets in a single picture(sort of find the monkey or waldo) with the same grid system...put a timer to add challenge...

sorry didnt see the timer (stupid mistake)

I use Paint Shop Pro and it supprts grids. Many of the photo editors have an option to overlay a grid. The picture in the example is a screen shot straight from Paint Shop. I am not aware of a freeware editor that support grids, maybe some one here knows or maybe a Internet serach will turn one up!

I considered the where's Waldo type of game too. That type of game requires a more specific type of picture (cluttered) but it's something to think about.

I'm still waiting try someone elses creation!

actually The Gimp supports grids and is a great freeware editor.

in order to add a grid you go to filters>render>patern>gri d

Yes,, as you can see there are two folders in the style of the old 1.50 kernel applications that used KxPloit. So you will not be able to run it.

Right on! That was fun! 7.7 minutes.

How long did it take you to make the picture? I found that I got faster with each successive picture. I'm working on a sports theme set now.

Thank you waywardson!

Does Homemister's HM LUA player work on the slims?
If so, you should be able to load the game that way.
QJ has a link to download it in the forums.

Id be interested to know if it works, saves me buying one for testing...

However, it is one more reason to justify the purchase of a slim!

decisions, decisions....
