    Default [RELEASE] StarSlalom (JetSlalom Clone)

Another one of my semi-old projects (Not quite as polished as my last release)

This is an unofficial clone of JetSlalom by MR-C for the PSP. (With a StarFox twist)

    Play the original here: ww2.freearcade.com/Jetslalom.jav/Jetslalom.html

This release uses no code or resources from the original game.

    Shots:

    Video:

    Install:
Copy the StarSlalom folder to PSP/GAME or PSP/GAME150 on your PSP.

    Notes:
    • Since this still uses the old luaplayer 0.16 for speed, it requires the 1.5 kernel. If you want, you could try running it with a modded luaplayer, but it might not run full-speed.
    • The code is a bit weirdly designed, I don't really know what I was thinking at the time.
    • You can use whatever you want from the code for whatever you want, but I would appreciate you not bytecoding it and giving me a shout as to what it will be used for.

Nice, that really makes me feel like back in StarFox :)

Just the collisions seem to not quite match the visuals, but the ship model and music sure add a lot to the game. Better than the "original" ;)

After playing for almost 2 Hours, there is only 2 things that would make it even better:
    1-Collisions like Raphael said.
    2-Online High Score Leader Board.

Overall one of the Best Homebrew in since Stacker.

I also found a way to play that makes its a bit harder and more Motion Sensor feel. You just place you hands over you PSP and wrap you fingers around the top/Trigger. By moving your hands like a PS3 motion SixAxis you will be pressing on L & R making it feel like you have Motion Sensor... well sortoff.

You should also write a simple algorithm for when making boxes that it tries to trap you and makes the game more challenging than just random placement

It stays around 55-60, though that's low enough for me to have to have disabled vblanks. (So there's a bit of tearing)

The main problem was getting it running at that speed and still having enough "juice" left for the music to be smooth.

Yeah the collision is a bit half-arsed due to lazyness and lack of CPU power.

If I could get my hands on a cheap motion kit, I'll try to use it for this game. (That's assuming Lua's SIO isn't too broken)

Well, since this is a clone, I don't really see the need for adding game mechanics that the original game did not have.

There probably won't be any more updates to this game, unless a huge bug is fond.
    Anyway, thanks all.

Nielkie- Today I was playing a school & got 4883 my best score right now. I also got a little bug, It only happen once but in Level 4 the walls stayed straight all the way till level 5 absolutly no Right or Left turns.

    --EDIT--
wicked_fable- The Fourth Level is Programmed to make 2 Huge lines on each side of you and force you to do hard right and hard left turns.

Hmm, sounds more like luck to me than a bug. I once just started a new game and press left and I stayed alive until the second level.

Woops, it seems I didn't reset the timer I used for the fourth level when you restarted the game. I've posted a bugfix.

Nah, due to lazyness the forth level is not random.

Ah, lol, I see. Well, anyhow, great game Nielkie. You have some cool stuff, apparently, in the back-runner. You should drop the whole load of them on us because once you do, I am sure we will all be super happy homebrewers.

Well he did say it was one of his old projects, its unlikely he will. But if he does it'll be awesome
