[PSP Updates Summer Homebrew Contest Entry] [Release] NervOS 2.2

This is an update to my entry(2.1) for the QJ 2008 PSP Homebrew Competition.

I hope it has no bugs but in case you find any report them at http://forums.consoleworld.net.

This is because you will get a better(and you will get an answer for sure) answer from me or from my beta testers than from anyone else who uses only public releases and do not experience the problems that a beta release has.

Changes/Additions:

• nosautoboot.prx: now it is more stable (both autoboot plugins) and fixed a problem that caused the XMB to not load sometimes.
• System Info: Free Ram uses a different function now.
• Unpacker: Added unrar support
• Unpacker: Added 7z support
• When typing your password in log in (not in recovery), it shows the password as *
• Adhoc File Transfer
• NervOS Configurator: Now opens the file browser when you choose the font option.
• NervOS Configurator: Now opens the file browser when you choose the user image option.
• Picture Viewer: added GIF support (animated GIF's too, maybe not all gif's are displayed right (specially the black and white colors))
• Picture Viewer: added BMP support (16 bit BMP can be loaded but may not be displayed correctly. 24 bit BMP files are displayed correctly. 32 bit may not be loaded or displayed correctly)
• Picture Viewer: fixed 1 bug
• Increased compatibility with PRX plugins
• File Browser: Fixed 2 bugs and 1 typo
• NervOS Installer: remade the graphics and added some sounds
• NervOS Configurator: when changing theme, does not restart anymore.
• USBHostFS: No need for UMD discs anymore when you want to play an ISO (if no UMD is inserted, it uses OE Isofs)
• Added 3 new icons under applications: NetHostFS, Unpacker, Adhoc File Transfer
• File Browser: Added usbhostfs0 and nethostfs0 to root directory so you can navigate through there.
• File Browser: Added "Send file via Adhoc" in tools window
• ISO Browser: fixed bug when reading ICON0.PNG.

NetHostFS does not work !! (at least for me it does not) but NervOS is ready to work with it. So the next release will have it.

NervOS 2.2 is already available from network update but remember that the Installer changed and the installer from 2.1 does not install the adhoc module.

Note: I am not Italian, I am Portuguese (A lot of people think I am Italian)
Note 2: The login can be disabled from NervOS Configurator - check the wiki or search in the readme for "Controls".
Note 3: This was coded in C NOT LUA

What code are you using for the RAR extraction can I ask?

Yes I can but I had no time to add it. I could not finish a lot of features that I was starting the adhoc took me more than 72 hours finish completely.

Ah, so it doesn't extract RAR3?

Well if the unrarlib I am using is the "unrarlib" that can be downloaded from the internet, it should only open RAR and RAR2.
I do not use Windows so I don't have any applications that make rar files in RAR3 format.
I don't really remember which one I am using as I downloaded a lot of rar and unrar libraries, I am not sure but I think I am using the one that comes with tipster unrar source code. Or maybe PSPComic's one.. I am not really sure.

I see. I tried to get rar3 extraction but, I could'nt find a lib xD

I did some quick search about a possible open-source unrar library that could extract rar3 formats and I found this:

Unrar
This version of Unrar[1] is free software, licenced under the GPL. It uses the GPL'd UniquE RAR Library unrarlib[2] by Christian Scheurer and Johannes Winkelmann, which is in turn based on an old version of RARLAB's UnRAR, with permission from author Eugene Roshal.[1]

This application has been pushed to obsolescence due to the implementation of RAR3 format by RARLAB in their WinRAR archiver. The unrarlib library only supports RAR and RAR2 formats.[2]

(from what I understand)So this means there is no open source unrar library that can extract Rar3 format

@xXChromeXx, yes it needs but future versions may use gamesharing if the other PSP does not have NervOS.

Gamesharing would be sweet! I love this shell! Does the autoboot work with 4.01m33 w/ 1.50 kernel?

they should but NervOS may not work correctly with 1.50 kernel installed. Sincerely i have not came to a conclusion yet because each PSP with 1.50 kernel add-on installed has different problems and some do not have any.

And if your firmware is the same as the one you say in your sig you should not have problems.

question: when you are in the "Fix System Files" section in installer, it says that it is writing to the flash0

when i had nervos 2.1, i wanted to change log in settings to "no" so when i went to my username the keyboard wouldnt show up and it froze there

so i did everything in the installer like Fix System files and it then worked

now i have to same problemm

so i go to the installer, i do the patch first (dont know what it is), then do Fix System Files, and when it is done, i log in and change the log in settings, it doesnt work...

the osk doesnt show up and i cant go anywhere

regarding the "flash0", yes it is flash1, my bad, ive just fixed it.

Do you have any plugins enabled (seplugins) ? that usually happens because of that. Not all prx work although the compatibility has increased.
I would like to know if you have 1.50 kernel enabled or not too.

i think the plugin affected the installer
anyways i disabled plugin, then installed, and now it works, even with the plugin enabled

I read the readme, and it says that PSX games do not work at all? ok...


then it says that homebrew won't work in 3.xx kernel mode?


So what exactly DOES work? because ALL my homebrew is 4.01 kernel, and that leaves JUST the ISOs?


So is that it? ISOs only?
