Default [RELEASE] Custom Firmware Extender 3.0

After a lof of work, here is a new release of cfe, designed for PSP SLIM ONLY.

Download : Custom_Firmware_Extender_ 3.0.zip

Edit : If you have a FAT PSP, the VSH plugin should work, but not the game one.

Quote:
========================= =======

CUSTOM FIRMWARE EXTENDER 3.0

========================= =======

CFE 3.0 IS FOR PSP SLIM ONLY. TESTED ON CFW 5.00, SHOULD WORK ON CFW 4.01

"Custom Firmware Extender" is a set of plugins that will add some extra options to your SONY PSP.

With "cfe "3.0" you should be able to :

- Change the speed of the PSP CPU/FSB while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO/HOMEBREW).

- Change the brightness of the PSP while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO/HOMEBREW).

- Take some screenshot while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO/HOMEBREW).

- Load some PRX plugins while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO/HOMEBREW).

- Start and stop USB under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO/HOMEBREW).

- Play your UMD/ISO/HOMEBREWS on your PC screen and make some in-game videos with the help of
remotejoyLite from Akind, based on Tyranid work.

- Stream ISO/HOMEBREWS via USB.
ISO are loaded in "OE" mode, for better compatibility insert an UMD in the PSP drive.

- Reset and Power off the PSP while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO/HOMEBREW).

- Listen to mp3, at3, oma, omg and aa3 musics file while under the VSH (PSP Menu)
or in-game (UMD/ISO/HOMEBREWS), based on music.prx by joek2100.
Note that if you have some subfolders under an album folder, files won't
be found for now.

- Change volume of each channel's of the psp.

- "Time Machine" feature, you can reboot to any TM compatible firmwares,
they are automatically detected by cfe 3.0. Note that you must configure
each TM firmware to load CFE under the VSH to be able to easly reboot to your
original firmware. There is already a sample configuration under the TM folder
in this archive.

- Grab some informations about the PSP memory (Great to know how much space a prx plugin require).

- Enable Usb Mass Storage at startup via cfe.config (not recommanded).

- Set a default CPU/BUS speed at startup via cfe.config.

- Set a default brightness level at startup via cfe.config.

INSTALLATION
============

- Copy the content of the "seplugins" folder to the seplugins folder of your memory stick.

- Take a look at the file "cfe.config" under "ms0:/seplugins/cfe" and adjust to your needs.

- Enable cfe_loader.prx under the m33 recovery menu (Hold R while starting the PSP)
in vsh and game.

- Set cpu speed to default under the m33 recovery menu.

USAGE
=====

* For now, buttons are hardcoded, you must press the SCREEN button (the one beetween the NOTE button)
to bring the cfe MENU.

* While music is started, you have to press the NOTE button to bring the music menu.

* This plugin use the PSP SLIM memory, you may encounter some crash with homebrews designed for
the slim psp (mvspsp..). You can DISABLE the cfe plugin by holding the L trigger button
while starting the psp or a game.

Brilliant i've been waiting so long for an update to CFWextender

EDIT: 2 little improvements i could see, in-game mute when you play music. And using a combo to bring up the menu like L SHOULDER + SCREEN.

You can already mute/change your game volume with the music menu. (Note button after starting the music).

For the combo, i'll see for the next release.

Now in older versions, the Phat was able to flash battery. Is it possible to set this program to auto-detect PSP-2000 Motherboard version? It was a big turn off that I have a TA-85v1 but this program doesn't let me flash because it's a slim in general. So I have the whole battery flashing app kept ready in my game section(which is quite cluttered on my 8 gig stick)

I just found that hehe One bug i've noticed if you load an ISO, then go to standby using the power switch it starts the UMD motor and it wont stop. I notice you say in the readme you default to the OE driver for ISO's over USB, but im not doing this just a normal ISO using m33 driver.

Happened when i used the power switch, at the time i also had Remotejoy running, not sure if that narrows it down any more.

Noticed another thing. When i start playing music then change the folder where music will play from. E.g. "Music/Album" the contents wont play, and it says music already started.

Also remotejoy seems to stop some games from saving, just freezes at the menu. That problem though probably isnt to do with CFW extender.

All in all though, this is great and i love the menu.

I cant get this working on the phat. I disabled all vsh plugins and press screen I can see the menu sort of flicker a bit but that is it. When I use the dpad to change selection, the selected menu item breifly flickers but none of the menu is visable.

im pretty much asking if its like devhook firmware emulation.

Same here, I have dumped 360.psar but can't seem to load TM. Do I need a pandora battery with DC installed?

Read the readme it explains how to install it. It doesnt have a GUI pre-se, timemachine once installed just loads a firmware from the memory stick by holding a button during the psp booting.

You still need the pandora battery to do the firmware restart. In essence all what happens is CFW extender holds the buttons for you for the TM firmware you choose and reboots the psp. Once in the time machine firmware you cant use CFW extender though as obviously it isnt compatible.

I added the path and filename to vsh.txt, but it doesn't show in the recovery menu. Am I doing something wrong?

PS: I copied the cfe folder to the seplugins folder.

everything works perfect except that it always sets my game cpu speed to 222 rather than 266 like it's in the config.

i put both cpu speeds in the m33 menu to "default"

any help? i have to change it manual when i start each game.

edit: fixed: just put the speed i wanted in the alternative vsh menu =)

Aw mannn.... This dosen't work on my phat PSP... Pressing the note button gives a brief flash of the menu, but it disappears, and cannot be used...

The TimeMachine version does not work, either. The 3.40 OE firmware hangs on boot (ala brick). I noticed the pspbtncnf.txt was unscrambled (the one present was).

Put it at the top of your game.txt list make sure there are no superfluous spaces or line breaks.

Plugins load sequentially and obviously a plugin like CFW extender requires loading very early in the boot process. Also i think there is a 5 line limit on plugins loading so you can have over 5 lines but only the first 5 load.
