Default 0x584d42 Alpha

Darkside, Zer01ne, Spimort come out of their project named in 0x584d42
Alpha version, which is, I can recall a XMB alternative.
This one to avoid any risk of Brick (alpha), it settles
in the Time Machine (via emulation 3.40) or DC7 (Via the test 4.01), but
Of course in future versions this XMB will be directly integrated flash!

This adds XMB feature is fully customizable and easy!
The reader allows Audio playback format as varied. Ogg,. Mp3,. Wav ...

Boot screen...

For more information and to download versions go here: BlackDev'sTeam Website

Thank's Zer01ne for have find the solution !

Edit: New screen

Seems to be a sort of shell that actually runs from flash... Sorta like 0x89 was going to be before it was abandoned.

VSH. Visual SHell.

This is not on the Sony VSH standards though. Not even close.

Yes there are many shells but this is a XMB ALTERNATIVE! ( To replace Sony ! )
If nothing you satisfied, does not rot the creations of others, even when you realize you do nothing! ( You also criticize the Custom Firmware BDT)
This is a XMB as PROJECT 4, to replace the sonny little by little, this is only the first version called ALPHA TEST!
Not convinced? avoid discouraging comments!

It's still a shell, the name 'VSH' means 'Visual Shell', which is exactly what this is. You can't however, call it a XMB alternative, as it doesn't nearly qualify the standards a normal XMB should have. Yes, I know, it's an alpha version, but my point is that this really is a shell, no matter what. Also, I don't see Davee criticizing you anywhere, all he says is that it is a shell, if you consider that offensive then that's your choice. According to you, copying iRShell on to my flash0, applying some patches and getting rid of the Sony XMB would turn iRShell in an 'XMB Alternative' aswell, which would be way more effective then these new projects.

Well, from what I remember, even Project4 had its own definition issues. Some people called it a shell, some people called it an XMB replacement. In Auraomega's own words:

Quote:
Project4 is currently the only true XMB replacement for the Sony PSP. It completely replaces Sony's XMB, and works directly and independently from the NAND flash. Contrary to the common shell for the PSP, Project4 physically removes the S-XMB from loading, and replaces it with code specifically designed to work all from flash without ever needing a memory card.
That was taken from his release of Project4 v1.6180, the first version out of beta.

Personally, I'm not quite sure what to make of 0x584d42. My first instinct is that it's a shell - simply because it's the most common term you hear about these kinds of projects. But if BlackDevsTeam insists its an XMB alternative, then I suppose that's fine as well. No need to mince words and argue on specific nomenclature.

Whatever the case may be, it's a pretty looking shell. Err, XMB replacement I mean! Hehehe!

0x584d42 also !!
This is the Alpha to remove risk of brick !!
News it will be to the NAND !!
Look the special module of 0x and you wil know that it's a XMB (vshmain replace and not a basic prx or a eboot ...)
We replace the sce origianal vshmain as P4 !!
We do this to show what 0x584d42 and have made a time machine ALPHA on XMB but it will replace that of sony!
Convinced? Look at the archive!

I think you are not understanding.
The original VSH is the XMB (Xross Media Bar). VSH means Visual Shell.
If you replace thew XMB, then the VSH will be your XMB-replacement.
So it is still a shell.

Although normally what is called a shell is a program which does more or at least the same as the XMB.

Wow you replaced a module?
What would be impressive is if you worked alongside the vsh modules and used their exports.

Sorry, I couldn't not post on here

Technically a shell is the front end to its commands, I.E. the GUI. I called Project4 a replacement because it did literally replace Sony's XMB, and the common definition of a shell back then was for things like iRShell which was booted over the top of the XMB.

To simplify things I'd call this a replacement, because in the terms shells are normally used for on the PSP is to cover the XMB, but if you wish to be technical this is a shell, as was Project4.

Personally I think the line is kinda fuzzy sometimes, but my vision has never been fantastic

If you'd ever attempted something similar you'd know vshmain IS the GUI (in so much as the functions that place the graphics to the screen, even if not the graphics themselves), replacing it is the only way to go, Project4 and PSPLock (my previous, partial replacement of the VSH) both had to remove vshmain.

Unlike some people I'm trying to avert an argument, and I think it would be rather nice if you were to keep those comments to yourself, I'm just giving the facts to stop any flame wars coming along.

i kinda agree with vodka
a shell may give it something "low" but it's a great work of homebrew
okay we know it's a shell, now talk about the thing itself
