Default [UPDATE] Hold+ v3.4 - Battery Saver Plugin

Changelog v3.4
----------------------------------
Fixed a problem caused by a faulty Hold switch in some PSPs. This made the CPU remain underclocked even after turning off the Hold switch.

The problem is the Hold switch doesn't consistently return a pressed state. It sometimes rapidly fluctuates between an Off and On signal. If this fluctuation occurs within one iteration of the main program loop, it causes problems. Its not humanly possible to toggle the Hold switch so fast, but a loose connection can :P

thanks for this very useful plugin..

i have a problem with the power switch on one of my PSPs, so this might help avoid the keys "locking" on their own and maybe stop it switching off..

if it works, you will have essentially enabled me to once again use that PSP without need of a Pandora (it usually doesnt switch on at all with the power switch) so heres hoping..

thanks all the same i will also use it on my other two

Default Torch! you're great!

Hello TORCH! i hope you remember me from the treat of your last version of this amazing plugin. Well, i will just copy and paste the question i've made before. Please tell me if i can do my self what i'm asking. Thanks!

I would like if the plugin don't make the power light flash at all. I mean (sorry if i'm spelling wrong, i'm from Argentina and my english is a little rusty), i don't want the plugin to make the power light flash every 30 seconds at all, so i can save even more battery time. Can i configure the plugin with a HEX editor, to make the power light to stop flashing every 30 seconds? How? wich code should i change?

Thanks again!

keep up this amazing work! i don't know how i could listen to music and play games for so long with my standard battery with out this!

My friends and I gives you a big thanks! (again).

See ya!

For v3.4, patch hex offset 0x584 from 80 00 to 00 01.

Oh my GOD!

Thanks a lot TORCH! i've tryed it out and it works!

No more blinking of the power light!

YOU ARE THE MAN!

Thanks a lot! please! in the readme file that comes with this plungin, in the next version of Hold+ you could put what you said to me, as an option for those like me and my friends, that want the most battery time possible, don't want the lights at all. I'm telling you this, because mabe the the location of that code may change every version, so if you could do that, it will be GREAT! because i don't want to bother you every new version with the location of that code haha.

Thanks a lot! i will put how much time EXACTLY the PSP phat can save with the blinking light, and without.

Thanks again! you're the man!

Torch..

good afternoon to you. thankyou for the very useful Hold+ plugin.. i have had no problems with it, and im writing here to suggest an idea for a possible future release.. i am definately saving a ton of battery life using this while playing music etc, but i just wanted to suggest some extra settings/options to further its capabilities..

can i suggest a "RemoteJoy Compatibility Mode" so that when the Hold switch is activated:

- the screen is deactivated
- the CPU is left at default or is even OVERclocked (222-333)
- have ALL the buttons still functioning as normal
- activated and deactivated on-the-fly by the Hold Switch .. (RemoteJoy does crash at times)

so basically, to have a setting that ONLY deactivates the screen and MAYBE maxes out the CPU, while leaving all other settings/functions intact. this will allow players to reduce the many distractions caused by the PSP screen flickering in your peripheral view etc, when you are really trying to concentrate on the PC monitor.. it will also help to save power when using the RemoteJoy plugin with a PC Monitor.. so i think the suggested mode may be useful in eliminating those distractions, as well as helping the original concept of the Hold+ plugin, which is to save power..

anyway, i just thought id share an idea.. im sure it would be a useful option if it were added. of course its ONLY an idea, and i understand that actually implementing it would probably take a lot more than just adding a bit of code here and there.. so i understand if its asking too much..

also, let me know if id be better off approaching the authors of RemoteJoy instead, regarding this idea..

thanks for reading, and i hope you can provide the answer to this.. either in words or an update..

cheers mate.. much appreciated

All that needs to be done is sceDisplayDisable() and sceSetBrightness(0). That will turn off the screen and prevent it from turning on again when you press any button. Its better this is done from remotejoy itself.

when you say "Its better this is done from remotejoy itself" do you mean changing the setting in RemoteJoy (meaning i should ask RemoteJoy authors) or do you mean change it in Hold+'s settings and then enable it AFTER enabling RemoteJoy?

very sorry, i know the Hold+ settings can be changed, which is why i asked you first. ive had several different configurations that work great. i just couldnt figure out how to do it without slowing down the CPU. as i believe it needs to be hex-edited to change the values or whatever they are called.. i dont think RemoteJoy has the same configurable settings file.. unless there is a new version that does and i dont know about it..

thankyou very much for your reply.. i will try the settings you suggested.. but i think the CPU will be clocked too low to be able to run a UMD on the PC monitor.. i just hope it works with RemoteJoy enabled.. at least il be able to run some homebrews etc..

thanks Torch. again, much appreciation for your time

Its better you not use Hold+ with remotejoy as remotejoy already makes games lag. You shouldn't underclock, but preferably set games to run at 333 always while using remotejoy.

It needs to be programmed in remotejoy to turn off the display.

If you would like to know how t do this with any effert, remotejoylite on the PC side has an option to turn off the display. Both PC, and PSP sources are available.

oh ok.. i must be missing something then.. cos i downloaded RemoteJoyLite and the package only consists of the PRX file and the libusb0.dll file.. i havent used it yet, ive been using the RemoteJoy4iRS instead, cos i use iRShell alot..

il try downloading a different/newer version... v0.19 is on here..

ok it turns out i WAS actually missing something (the exe files for the PC)

well im glad i found that out the easy way instead of asking what would have been some rather sheepish questions..

and @ tinmanx.. if you mean "sources are available" as in source-code, im at a loss for im not familiar with any PSP programming.. and when you say "turn off the display" do you mean the PSP display or the PC display.. im wanting the PSP display switched off so that it doesnt distract attention from the PC display..

and thanks to you both.. you guys have taken time to answer my words, and have been understanding of my ignorance.. so cheers

Yes, I mean the source code, and I mean the PSP display. Get the newest version here:

Sorry, I will stop now with the thread hijacking, I only mentioned this to help you out, and maybe in some small way help Torch.

Again great work Torch, and sorry.
