Default [RELEASE] Game Categories Plugin v3

    Changes:
    - Added support for the custom firmware 5.00 M33-4 (due to the new Shutdown option being added, a lot of offsets changed).

This plugin allows you to categorize your game menu and keep it more organized.

    Requirements:
    - A PSP with 5.00 M33-3/M33-4 or higher (it may break in the future, therefor I will update it as soon as I have the chance to do so).

    Instructions:
    - Copy 'game_categories.prx' and 'vsh.txt' to the seplugins folder, if you already have a 'vsh.txt', modify it instead of copying the included one.
    - Enable the plugin in the recovery menu.
    - Create folders prefixed with 'CAT_' in the GAME, GAME150, GAME5XX or ISO folder.
    - Fill them with everything you want to appear for that specific category (if you have the same category name in two or more folders they will be mixed).
    - Keep the Sony file length limitations in mind, due to the name of the category being added to the total length, the length of each filename will increase even more. If a corrupt icon shows up, try lowering the length of the filename.
    - Boot your PSP, open vshmenu and select the appropriate category (a new option will be added by the plugin, this will happen seamlessly and everything should keep working).

    Notes:
    - If you change category while currently in the game menu, it will automatically leave the game menu and recache the directory.
    - A 'Show all' and 'Uncategorized' option are available in case you need them.

    Have fun.

It can be found here. :)

Hm yeah that's what I was a bit worried of, you rely strongly on updates...
But ok, DAX added a new feature to the vshmenu with m33-4, so maybe updates aren't always necessary.
It was the new option that screwed things over. It won't happen very often, and next time it happens I'll update it even faster as I now got the patches in a more organized list.

thanks for the update but it doesn't allow me to open the vsh menu when i'm using cxmb
the theme i,m using is lightning
    (cxmb contain previous vshmain.prx)

    Idea for next update
cat0_yyy don't show up when you check in games but you can choose it from vsh menu
cat1_yyy always show up even if you change Category
    cat_yyy is the normal one

I check the M33 version to find the patch to apply, I assume the theme has satelite.prx from a previous version, even though it's trying to apply the new patches.

I just noticed a minor issue. When GCPv3 is enabled, UMD ISO MODE sticks to your setting and you can't change it unless you go into recovery.

Other than that, it's all well working :)

just change anything else 1st e.g usb mode change it to umd disc then you'll be able to change UMD ISO MODE

Yeah, I noticed that a minute ago. It's a really strange bug, maybe the caches aren't cleared properly or anything. I'll look in to it, but for now it isn't the largest issue.

    Please fix this bug:
    1. When you exit a game, the category resets.
    2. When you reset the PSP (shutdown, turn on...), the category resets.

This is extremely annoying, please fix this.
(I am using 5.02 GEN-A, the plugin is built-in there)

the problem with that feature is yo have to write to memory,
and the more often you write to memory, the higher the chance of corruption
i think flash1, would be one of the best option, a this is where themes are kept, and now he have cxmb, so it not much of a bother to format it

    although permanent corruption could occur
i dont know but i too would like to see this, even if its an optional feature

    thanks

I already finished one with support for this a while ago, only had to fix some pesky bug before release, however some other private projects got inbetween and this project pretty much got covered in dust. I'll release a version with a config file soon, just have to write some patches to make GEN support it, as Miriam probably won't be bothered to make a GEN update just for this.

First off Bubbletune thanks for sharing this really handy and cool plugin...I been looking for something like this for quite some time now (got too much homebrew).

I'm a n00b when it comes to PSP programming etc...but was wondering if something like a number system can be applied to each brew, game etc within each CAT_ folder so that way you favorite apps/games/etc always show up at the top and so forth. Is that even possible in a plugin?

    Thanks for your time...

Bubbletunes: I finally tried your plugin now, works great! I think I drop my AppSwitcher plugin :P
Ok but here's a problem I encountered using it. That is the functionality to delete stuff with the Triangle Button menu. The VSH says delete finished unsuccessful and all that remains is a corrupt file in the Game menu and the folder renamed to _DEL_000000000000SOMENUMB ER on the memory stick. Please have a look into this if it occurs on your side too.

I only had that problem when I was on 5.02 GEN-A.
I have since downgraded to 5.00 M33-4, and all works fine :)
