Hi,
I just compiled a new demo of my DJ Drops game so people who like the serie can have a look on what I'm doing. It contains the old level "S Soup" in normal difficulty, that I finally decided to finish. It contains also bugs, some graphics are not done (mainly the blocks!) but gameplay-wise it's finished (hasn't changed since last demo I think). Information about the game are here: DJ Drops demo 4 I already finished 2 spin offs of this game (they came out first, I know it's weird ): Mega Drops, Mega Drops 2.And note that I won't mind getting some help for the graphics, on the contrary! Downolad here: UPDATE: BUGFIX january 19th 2009: http://www.box.net/shared/o5v558yclx Last edited by daaa57150; 01-19-2009 at 02:24 AM.. |

Just WOW, those graphics look great. but maybe since it's "DJ Drops" maybe some Dj related blocks. like tech 12's and mixers and speakers and records and stuff like that. it wouldn't/shouldn't be hard to resize some pics and insert them in there. I have some time this weekend and I'll make a few samples for you. Gonna dload this now and check it out. I love eye candy and I used to be a rave promoter. So I know what Djing/DJ's like. I know the elements...

Oh you're right, my mistake. Here is the right one, I corrected the 1st post too: http://dl.qj.net/DJ-Drops-Demo-5-PSP...5550/catid/195
Too bad, you should try it, I've put so much effort in it, it's 54Mb of good music & graphics. |

Was it on a slim? That's the problem I was told about on a slim.
Art, can you post me the content of the file "djlog.txt" that should have been created next to the eboot? |

Ok guys, I tested on my PSP and guess what? The demo didn't work...
So, here is, I hope, a working one: http://www.box.net/shared/o5v558yclx And for those who want to download the eboot only: http://www.box.net/shared/9e365t9ea7 I'm on custom firmware 5.00M33 and it should now work on any custom firmware above 2.00; don't launch it with the 1.5 kernel, I think it won't work, because I now use sony's savedata system (I need to test). @michaelp: update your version, be sure to launch it with your 3.90 kernel, and tell me if it still doesn't work.. |

This looks like the random bug I have, you tried more than once? post the file djlog.txt please, it's next to the eboot.

michaelp, have you tried many times?
here is a new build for you: http://www.box.net/shared/9tb2ir0qzb I haven't changed much, I don't think it has any consequence, but it's worth trying. can you test it and tell me if it works? if not, post the log file. thanks. |

Currently it is a demo so it is understandable that you cannto make themes yet if he even plans to incorporate that in the actual game.

Well, a theme or skin system is always a nice addition, but I'm not sure I want to implement it, for those reasons:
- it will take me a really long time to develop a theme system so that theme makers can have a hand on the more things possible: block types, gauges, grid size, bg animations, particles, effects (on bg elements, on particles, on blocks, on lines, ...), music driven events, and I'm sure forgetting a lot - it will be a hard and long work for the theme makers for the same reasons, and they'll have to draw all the animations, and I can tell you, it takes long. - and the more obvious reason for me: people simply won't do it. even if they say they will, they won't. I implemented a skin system in my previous game, skins were easy to make and you know how many skins were made by others? a half. and the game has a lot more downloads than mega drops 1 & 2. So instead of spending time on a theme system, I prefer spending it on one or two more levels, were I can implement specific gameplay elements. Also, if some people have ideas for a level, I'd be happy to develop it following their indications, if they provide me all the ressources of course (music, graphics, etc..). Oh and by the way, I'm still looking for help graphic-wise. If someone wants to draw the blocks for example, or help me on the level I'm making for the moment... |
