Exclamation [RELEASE] NoUMD Plugin

ALL CREDIT GOES TO RED SQUIRREL!
This was something i asked from Red Squirrel a while ago for my PSP, because i was tired of hearing my UMD Spin, but i wanted my UMD to be in my PSP for storage and also when i wanted to play my game.

No it will not do any harm, it just shows the tray as empty.

Just install it like any other plugin.

Purpose: Store UMD's in tray without your PSP loading them on startup and making that spinning noise.

Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MYY763UG

EDIT: Wow, i never knew so many people wanted this, i thought it would be great for me. Im happy to see a lot more people need it too

or whenever you enter the xmb

yea, it goes for a little bit, then stops until you start it.
Or if you restart your psp.

I got rid of the noise by removing the UMD drive itself. Everyone should do that, quadruples battery life.

This plugin shall be handy actually.

I hate it when I boot my PSP, then try to enter memory stick under GAME in the XMB, only to have the damn PSP start reading the UMD, which highlights it in xmb, so I end up launching the UMD when I'm just trying to enter my memory stick.

Some would say, "well, don't keep a UMD in the drive then.."
But I like to keep GTA: LCS on my PSP in UMD format, because it takes up to much room to store it on memory stick... Anyways, enough rambling.

Good to see one last plugin from Red Squirrel.
I've read of his recent retirement from the PSP scene.
He will be missed.

Just what I need! I like keeping a UMD in the drive for when I want to play it but I hate when I start the PSP it takes an extra 10 seconds for it to read the disc.

Yup Red Suirrell has left the building...

Quote:
With this little post I say goodbye to PSP scene officially.
The reasons are essentially three: first of all, I never have free time to spend for this console development, because of the study and a real life more chaotic and stressful, as well as interest turned to other platforms.
Another reason is that I don't touch a PSP from many months, an "interesting" game is not released from about a year in Europe... and then in PSP scene exists all you need, all has been coded, so I consider it as a "finished" and very very boring panorama.
At the end, some things happened in PSP scene during last days deeply impressed me, because I understood (a more time again...) as the PSP scene is ill, with its "boss", its "smarts" and its "lamers".

For this and other reasons I officially annouce my retirement from the scene: there will be NO updates to my tools, so please stop to ask for them using my email address.
I will continue with the development of tools for other platforms (Windows, WII, Linux, ecc...) and I will keep updated this my personal website, so stay tuned!

I was under the impression a UMD disk was required for loading some things. How will this affect that?

I just installed the plugin (pretty useful), but in order to play my UMD I must disable the plugin in recovery right?

hey np SGT4EVA, I had a feeling that what I had to do but I just wanted to make sure...I mean it makes sense if it's enabled, it will not read the UMD so it wouldn't show up on the XMB. Again thanks for the cool plugin, it's staying in my PSP.

One quick question, I'm no programmer or anything like that, but was curious if I wanted to view a PRX file (code) how would I do that? Thanks again...

I suggest make a menu (enabled in VSH menu, for example) to activate or deactivate this feature. Just an idea...
