Default [RELEASE] Apollonia V0.02

We (codetactics) have released a new build of our multiplatform, 3D, top down, arcade style helicopter game Apollonia.

Heres a quick changelist:
  • Improved rotor blades.
  • Added windows port.
  • Fixed some texture and sound bugs.
  • Improved graphics engine.
  • Added trees.
  • Instant action is now random, not just mission one, with random road networks and enemies.
  • Added a second control scheme to the PSP version which can be saved as a preference.
  • Fixed the home button so it now shows the exit screen on all PSPs.

We've got big plans for this game, so make sure you drop by our website and leave us feedback about what you'd like to see in the next version.

hey justinlatimer
i am the first supporter for this fascinating game...i know seek and destroy that was a famous title in the old dos games it is similar to this game if you need anything don't hesitate to tell me...as for suggestions:
1-create upgrades for the weapons such as the machine gun can upgrade to have maybe more speed in firing and more bullets
2-implement more weapons such as napalms and air strikes
3-if you destroy certain type of buildings, medals appear that resemble upgrade points
4-implement more modes such as a tank or a helicopter and each machine has its own weapons
5-before each campaign you can modify three characteristics: speed, fuel, armor.if you increase armor, speed would decrease and such

good job and keep it up!!!

Let me help you out since your new and under 10 posts.

------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction:

Apollonia (this game's working title) means "Destroyer", the feminine version of the Greek name Apollo. It seemed an appropriate name for an AH-64 helicopter and it also seemed like an original name until we found out that Apollonia Vitelli-Corleone was a character in the famous Godfather movie.

This game is essentially a tribute to the old Desert/Jungle Strike games for the Sega Mega Drive and PC (see wikipedia). Apollonia was made specifically for the PSP, as it seems a worthy platform to give these games justice. (I could never get Jungle Strike running under emulation on PSP, so we made our own).

At the moment, other platforms are straight ports of the PSP version (and thus use the 480x272 screen size), but more native functions will come in future releases.

Yes some of those screenshots are from his 0.01 but i doubt those bits have changed much and he had only done one 0.02 picture.

This looks good btw.

RPG elements would be very cool. I'm pretty sure that's on our to do list somewhere.

Oh, we have something awesome planned for this.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of too many arcade elements creeping in. I even have reservations about "keeping score." I like the idea of keeping statistics though, like GTA games do.

Being able to go rambo (as a person, not a helicopter) would be interesting.

A variation to the RPG elements, so yes.

man i cant wait for those features you speak of.. to run around as Rambo?? WICKED!

you could even have the charachter perform some sort of collect-and-re-fuel and/or parts-for-repairing element for a damaged/out-of-fuel chopper..

some sort of "ChopLifter" element where you have to rescue individuals and/or objects from warzones/disasters/the enemy..

perhaps a "control-toggle" of sorts, allowing two individual player-controlled vehicles to operate simultaneously, control the chopper and perform rescues or attack enemies while a ground/water vehicle backs you up, then toggle to control the boat or tank for rescues/attacks and have the chopper back you up, with some sort of ROE (Rules Of Engagement) for the assisting unit to follow.. for example you could use the tank/APC/boat to rescue allied units while the chopper covers you against approaching enemies, and also vice versa, use the chopper to douse a forest fire (ELVIS style) or flank a battleship while the ground/water unit moves in to collect the survivors etc..

add a carrier element (like controlling a Chinook) to drop resources or ammo or maybe the "2nd vehicle/boat" into the appropriate zone..

i will stretch it and mention a MultiPlayer (AdHoc or InfStr) would be the tipping point for me.. i wanna play against my son, we both play it a fair bit, and a Vs option would be the ultimate addition for us at present.. heres hoping

i think i need to calm down.. but let me know if you think they are feasible.. its already a good game, the random instant-action feature is great.. not that this wasnt good before, but it now feels as though there are a few different levels now.. i cant wait to see what will be added in the next version..

cheers guys.. this is great fun..

and to mraellis.. very impressive set of posts mate.. a nice contrast
