Default [DEMO](idol2) Cube Runner

Well Heres what I have after 4 hours of coding.

Hey a_noob! I'm really really reeeeeaaaaally looking forward to the next release! I can totally see the potential in this game. Already had fun just playing this demo. Kinda weird tho that when you hit a cube, the game instantly resets and it's hard to keep track of your score (I think I got about as high as 150points or something - woot! beat that! hahahaha! )

Just off the top of my head, some suggestions from me...
  • music and sfx
  • accelerate/decelerate
  • a way to track scores

So there. Fun fun fun! Wish you the best on this project! Also put this up on the frontpage to share the fun. Cheers!

Nope, coded from the ground up in 4 hours. In-fact I never looked at anything during the development process. (There will be some different gameplay in the final version.)

Nice.

I can see this winning seeing as the only other thing entered in the hb isol contest was a shell done in lua.

This game is addictive. i downloaded at a friends house and couldnt wait to comment.

Well I think that the cube should accelerate as the levels go by and also it would be cooler if you could use the R/L shoulder buttons because it makes it seem more "realistic". And I agree with the idea of keeping score such as "top score of all time" and "current top score" kinda like the Starfox clone .

It does accelerate over time, deceleration will never be an option as it defeats the purpose of the game. Also If anyone has a motion kit and wants to do some testing I can add support for that too. Also I will add top score tracking.

i was thinking with the analog pad and d-pad u could do regular steering and the shoulder pads would lean the ship for sharper turning ??? just a thought

Ah lol. No wonder! For a time I thought that my eyes were playing tricks on me because it seemed as if I was going faster every few seconds... LOL turns out it really did. Hahaha!

How bout power-ups? Like, yknow, a last resort mega-bomb that obliterates a couple blocks in front of you, just in case you find yourself in a sticky situation?

Actually, the other entry in our psp-hacks.com Homebrew Idol2 competition is a 3d shell programed entirely in C++ that allows users with limited programming knowledge to add their own 3d interface with simple to use lua scripts to completely customize the shell. It's actually written very well.

Anyhow, nice entry and good luck in our competition.

BTW to everyone here, don't forget first place is $1000 cash and second place is xbox360 and i might make third place my psp silver slim with 5.00 m33-6 with 16gb memory card thats loaded with tons of goodies
