[release] Pokemon Demo, of a different kind

Mkay, so this demo probably wont be completely playable on PSP itself, but it's something that i really want to make happen for future versions. anyway, i decided to make this game after seeing Pokemon Ranger, because it seemed like they had a lot of good ideas in that game, but expanded on them completely wrong. This demo is kind of how i feel pokemon should be, although some things could be improved a lot(like AI, which i really have to find out how to do well).
Controls:
in battle
C(x) = attack one
D(square) = attack two
F(circle) = attack three
R(triangle) attack four
out of battle
C (x) = main select button
F(circle) = back/run
S(start) = start

to start it, run the "Pokemon Demo.bat" file. there's not really a whole lot in this demo, but the three starters are cyndaquil, turtwig, and squirtle. other than that.. i hope you enjoy it. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9T0CZHIK

Seems very alpha. Lots of bugs and it crashed when I tried to start a battle. Over all it's good! As far as alphas go.

1. i downloaded it
2. i played it
3. i got in a battle
4. i pressed an attack button
5. the pokemon decided to constantly do the same attack and look like it was humping the grass
6. i highlighted the download and pressed Shift+Del

i decided to put the functions into separate files entirely, called "functionsload", "Efunctionsload" and "functions"

You have no functions, those are procedures.
A function takes more than one argument, and returns one value.

You even do collision detection through procedures, it really is very unclean.

Hell, you shouldn't even have more than a hand full of global variables (zero if you're a purist)

i'll give you the benefit of the doubt in thinking you're a very intelligent person and not one of those forum trolls who goes around flaming everything, however to add in my two cents, it may be more beneficial to realize that slamming him for not knowing the difference between a function and procedure isn't helping anyone and in fact would only discourage him from continuing on his project and make you look disrespectful.

It may even be helpful to work with him on his functions as I have chosen to do however for someone who has absolutely no prior experience in this field and for someone who's creating something out of completely nothing, this demo game is really good if not extremely amazing for coming from someone who learns as he goes.

Although, code wise, there is a lot wrong with this game. As I said in Xteaph-N's thread, RPG's really aren't a good way to start out. "They seem to be breeding grounds for horrendous practices, and when done incorrectly are huge resource sucks - beginners put heaps of time into their projects, and are then offended when they learn it is effectively worthless."

I would love to see this game be finished, but playing the DEMO just gives a feels that needs alot of optimization, for a 2D game is running too slow.

I haven't checked, but If you are not using PGE or LPHMv2 maybe give a shot to LuaPlayer Euphoria.
