AVEC GPS V7 - Art 2009

Find Place by Name Feature

New Circular Multi Menu

Simultaneous control of the map file browser and configuration menu by using
the right hand buttons as another direction pad. Circular style menu system
elicits the fact that I just discovered point rotation in time for this app.
File list is colour coded for identification of the three supported file types.

Support for a new map set file type that associates adjoining detail map tiles
with each other, and allows software controlled transition from one to another
as your position changes by auto loading the new map files.

You don't need a GPS device to test the map viewer functionality.

Cheers, Art.

They are supposed to indicate different file types, but as you can see there's a bug in it
Some of the mp and mpi colours are swapped.

EDIT,,, did a quick fix for the eboots and a new screenshot to reflect the fix.

But why do I always get the annoying "Floating point overflow" in the MP Converter even though the map I'm trying to convert is 5 or 6 kilometers wide? It's good that now we can see a larger map surface, however if I have to convert several thousand 500-meter map chunks...it would be sort of inconvenient. And what floating point is giving an error? Are the POIs too many?Or the streets?Or...what?I dunno what to do.I haven't been able to try the last two releases because of MP Converter issues.

Best advice I can give is to try a genuine Garmin Mapsource Metroguide product because that's what the converters are tested with.
I purchased mine, but there are other ways to get them. It isn't the size of the map that's causing the error.

I have also tried some open source maps and converted them too though.
The map sizes are just the way they come on the CD for every Garmin Mapsource product.
There is usually an entire country basemap with only little detail, and many small map tiles
that contain the high zoom detail.

For the basemap, the mpi file loses it's effectiveness, and you might as well just view it in mp format
by pressing square when it prompts you to convert it.

I think that any more work put into this should go into the converters if I'm going to continue to release to the public,
but first I'll try to go over the code a bit and probably release the PSP source code which includes the MP Converter routines
(they are the same routines in the PC MP file converter). That way I might be able to get more help with the PC version.

I haven't worked on it for a little while.
Best I can suggest for now is stick to Metroguide maps if they are available for your area.
That's what I tested with, and many have converted fine... like the sample maps for example.

ie.

This is the exact CD that I have.

Install it, then all of the tiles are stored as img files in a folde rin the Garmin folder.
I think people having problems with the mpi converter could still use the maps they are using as mp files,
they just load a lot slower than mpi files.

The limit is 16 Mb or so, you'll have to trim it in Mapedit before loading it.
