Default (VEX) Digital-Battle

good evening polygon fans, as you might have noticed in the last month i didn't updated the Polygon Game project, while i have many good reasons for this. i can happily declare - i'm back - and this time with a new project.

My next project is called "(VEX) Digital-Battle" is a xonix style game. your mission as the first PSP antivirus is to conquer as much of the screen (PSP memory) without being hit by the evil upgrade viruses. if you lose - your system will be upgraded to firmware 2.0 MUUHAHAHA! (not seriously of course).

While it's not a downgrade solution nor the PSIX (which i must admit i'm very impressed of) its my small (while addicting) contribution to the homebrew community - which in he bottom line is based on good homebrew than on downgarde solutions.

anyway, several of the features i'm considering to include to the first version :

- the regular power-ups and weapons.
- high score table with an option to export the best score to a "best-of-the best" table on the internet.
- fully skinnable screen backgrounds. (actually i will upload a reference template in the next few days)

in the code department the game is 75% done (before debugging - yuck!), while my progress in the graphics department is quite impressive as you can see in the attached image.

as you might already notices the player graphics and the virus graphics are temporarely in ASCII art. now i'm looking for a nice player graphic set, and sets for two-three types of enemy viruses.
if you are gifted in pixel art more than me don't be shy and contact me or upload your artwork to this thread. as well this thread will be used to upload background sets , and of course for your ideas.

Site admin note:
oh.. and a last request to the site admins... please do not post the preview image in the news page. there is no need to create unnecessary hype around this project - at least not until it's done.

you should make it if they really lose then it changes there version.txt to 2.0. so that way it seems like the virus really infected the psp[/SARCASM]

Nice job. This reminds me of the game "Virus" for the computer. Perhaps you could have it to where if you last for a certain length of time, an "exploit" appears, and you move on to the next level (if you can make it to it, that is). As you go on, the Updater moves faster, and the time limit increases...Just a suggestion though.

Ya, and the levels could be 1.0, easy, 1.5, a little tricky, 1.51, harder, 1.52, a little harder, 2.00, a lot harder and so on.

Nice job TGM. Looking forward to it, and love your polygon game

Default Playable character ?

Could it look something like that ? smaller of course.. ill rezise and perfect it per pixel. But is the "general" look ok ? i could easily do 4 or 5 of those. This took about 30 mins. Could it fit as the "playable character "?

Default Sorry maybe im working on irrelevant stuff

Sorry maybe im working on irrelevant stuff but i started to work on some music.

what do you think about this type of music ? fit ? its hard to tell when you did not play the game . Those are far from finished , im not going to spend time polishing them when dont even know if you can use them.

music sample 1
music sample 2

I will finish them when i get feedbacks from the codemaster.

fruityloops . I use to have like 5000$ of outboard gear and now i do the same stuff with a 300$ software and a decent laptop

Virtual synths got really good.

if anyone need this type of music for their homebrew game dont hesitate and ask me. I make it for free, i just love psp homebrew games. Note that i will only do music for projects that are almost complete. I am happy to work for free but i am not happy to work for nothing

Hopefully all your hard work gets implemented into this homebrew game. I think your work would make any homebrew instantly better great job.

i dont think Carl_dingus.mp3 will make it in any games hehe unless i remove the voice samples. It was just for people who want to hear more

this could make it in VEX tho and will most probably be heard in the game if the dev master wants it
