Default UPDATED HostCore for CFW 5.50 GEN-D3

Well here it is HostCore for 5.50gen-d3. it was done with modification to the original source from Poison. Contains all the original features from the previous version plus the 5.50 compatibility. I only did modification to the usb portion so wifi may or may not work. It's only been tested on a psp phat. if you're having problems with it on a slim. or wifi isn't working correctly let me know i'll see what i can do. BTW I'm not a programmer nor do i claim to be one. I just wanted to get HostCore working on 5.50. it should also work on older CFW versions as well.

    *06/18/2010*
To anyone interested, i posted links to my modified source of hostcore, also included a diff of the changes from the original which is located svn on google-codes

    *BETA2 Update*
decided hostcore wouldn't be hostcore without wifi, so i have gotten it to work with phat. still a few bugs and slim compatibility issues but hopefully will have it fixed with next update.

    *FINAL UPDATE*
    06/14/2010
I have now gotten wifi working on both slim and phat psps on cfw 5.50 gen d3. still a few bugs but i can live with it. so i have finally accomplished my task of making hostcore 5.50 compatible. now it's back to my other life :P will be posting the source s soon as i clean it up
still can't add it as attachment grab it here

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=62B5NPZH

for the source you can grab it here

Yeah, now we can't use this as a support for choosing 5.00 M33-6. Good job. :)

Well the quick and dirty way would be to create a new folder. put usbhost and or nethost into that folder, then copy the entire contents of your memory stick into that very same folder then run either usbhost or nethost. on the psp make sure hostcore is in the right place and that it's enabld in vsh.txt. theres alot of youtube videos on cdoing that you should check out.

well first off try enabling usb mode in hostcore. be ure to have your psp plugged in. then goto device manager on your computer and see if you have LibUSB in your list, if you don't any you have unidentified devices most likely the drivers are not installed. wish i could help you more but i'm bad with tech support and worse with documentation.
doing a search for usbhostfs should yield some results on how to install the drivers needed

Well, I've been using USBhost through IRShell for some time, until D3 broke it (There are some work arounds but it's still buggy). Anyway, my point being I've gotten USBhost to work before.

So, when I found this alternative, I downloaded your prx, and then went and got the original Hostcore 1.2.1 files, installed the HostCore folder to MS0:, added the plugin line to vsh.txt (with 1 after to enable it), and overwrote the old hostcore.prx with yours.
After I start my PSP, I can hit the note key, and the Hostcore popup shows up, and I switch to USB, which allows me to view the files on my PC. I can see all my ISOs and whatnot, along with their little movies that play and backgrounds that show up when you have them selected, but, whenever I try to launch one, it acts like it's launching (The psp logo flashes like when you launch a UMD) then it goes to a black screen. The memory stick's orange light turns on, the system hangs at the black screen, then the PSP turns completely off, and I have to power it back on (The Sony Logo screen shows up, so the PSP crashes)

    Any idea what's wrong?
(I'm running a PSP-1000, with 5.50 GEN D3, Driver is set to M33 -No UMD-)

Nevermind, I figured it out. For some reason, having a UMD in the drive causes ISOs to randomly launch or not launch. After taking my UMD out, every ISO has launched without problems.

Hostcore would be so much better if it optionally replaced ms0:/iso/cat_hostcore and ms0:/game/cat_hostcore, instead of ms0 entirely.

I may try to tinker with that.

Oh, it seems I was spewing ignorance, since hostcore is more of a union fs than a fs replacer. cat_hostcore works if you mkdir cat_hostcore on the psp beforehand. Yay.

I noticed that the changes made for 5.50gen compatibility broke 5.00m33 compatibility, so I shuffled a few lines around to fix it. Here's the patch.

cool thanks. i thought i had did something like that before but since i was in such a rush. i totally forgot about even testing it on older firmware. well luckily. poison has just recently giving access to commit changes to the repository so i can make those changes and put them online. but i've been busy in my other life to even do much anything. I want to get a netconf dialogue working with the code so that connecting through wifi wouldn't be such of a hassle when you are tryin' to connect to different APs. but first. i'm still tryin' to understand how the net modules are loaded.

i'm thinking about adding a quick hack to enable modifying the PID in the conf.txt to enable the possibility of connecting multiple psp's to one machine. but anyway that's all on hold for now. time to barbeque and watch the fireworks eventually

(I'm running a PSP-1000, with 5.50 GEN D3, Driver is set to M33 -No UMD-)
well first of sorry it took so long for me to reply... but the only thing i can think of is try replacing everything in the hostcore directory with my final. i got 2 phat's and a 2 slims and all of them worked with no problem... one other possibility that i can only think of is that your ms is corrupted and you need to do a disk check on it.. it could be getting stuck tryin' to read one of the files. i think i had that problem not too long ago.
just do a disc check then overwrite everything with the latest

Well if anyone is interested in knowing how i obtained those offsets. it's pretty simple really. i went back to 5.00 loaded up psplink and took down all data for every module at the offset. then i switched back over to 5.50 and did a hex string search and wrote down the locations of the addresses that came back containing string. and the final step after that was to subtract the text address and the found address to get the offset. and then finally implementing the patches and crossed fingers :)

anyway have a safe and happy fire works day everybody
