Default PSP idea and 3d homebrew help offer..

hello all,

brand new here, just got my psp about a week ago and have been enjoying all the goods and info available from everyone. so here it is:

This may have been already discussed or covered but, isnt it totally possible to turn the PSP into a video phone?!?! Now with talkman, wifi, and soon to be psp camera's its only a matter of time before this is released. Im just wondering if the homebrew community will come up with something first. maybe the guys who are working on the PSP2TV... anyhoo just a cool thought.

On the actual development side, I work as a 3D animator and am willing to help out with the development of 3d content for any cool homebrew ideas.
you can check some of my work here: http://www.halationstudios.com/rj

feel free to drop me an email if interested.
cheers,
RJ

hey, thanks guys. Ive just added some new images Im working on in the current 3d section. a cool 3d salmon, (one which i bought, photographed, cooked, ate, and am now modeling and animating :P) for a tv series.

Produkt, I took the 3D graphics & Virtual Reality technology course at NBCC Miramichi, NB about 4 years ago.

Once again, if any of you know of any homebrew games seeking 3d development, please let me know!!!

Cheers,
RJ

i like the stuff on your site, but the question is, are you good at making really low poly models look good?(kind of neccesary for the psp). I've got a few ideas for some games i want to do, but my modeling skills are quite craptacular.

yeah low polys not a problem. I can usually create high poly versions, then bake them down to low poly, retaining some of the high poly attributes(color, specular ity, bump shading). I dont imagine psp's engine will be able to handle normal mapping anytime soon, but if it did, i can use that technology as well.

normal mapping is where you use the RGB values of an image to define the normal vectors for an object correct? The psp should be quite able to handle this, we would just have to do our own implementation. (write a function that reads the values and assigns them to the normals for a given point). If I ever actually get around to doing any more work on the psp, i'll keep you in mind.

Truthfully any graphics card which has oepn gl 1.5 or later (now keep in mind this relys heavily on the game engine aswell) can render normal maps but the open source psp community hasnt learned how to do that just yet.

i know the gpu can do it but its not productive due to the screen size and memory alocations
