Default Biohazard: Return - A LUA project for the Sony PSP

Before you get all exited, this as of right now is a sort of Consumer Research. What I aim to find out is would you guys like a Biohazard (Resident Evil) Game made in LUA? We are currently testing to see if its possible and have all the resources we need to make the game.

If you wouldn't mind I would like your opinions regarding this game. I will also be here to answer any quieries you may have.

Thanks.

If you could manage to get the atmospehere right then it could be awesome. What kinda perspective are you shooting for? I dont think a side scroller would work to well, but a top down or isometric view would work well if you only showed a single room at a time. That way each new room would be a surprise. It would be awesome if you added those cool door opening scenes.

I think it would be a great idea, but there isnt much you could do after RE:Gaiden. That pretty much set the standard (imho) for portable biohazard/re.

So far you have the idea. What else do you have? Story? Characters?

Both actually. We are now just on to coding, and have already started character movements, and going room to room.

slicer4ever- 3d games, first of all, take forever to program. Second of all, something complicated like Resident Evil would go very slow in 3d.

i have always wanted to see a 2d resident evil game kind of the gameboy one but a lot better. think zelda for SNES with guns and zombies. i really think with solid art and good programming you could make a great game. i think the key is to make a tile engine so you can store hundreds of maps as just small text files so the game isnt huge and then you can throw together a simple level editor so you can make tons of maps in no time and THEN we have something good on our hands.

Hey, im a major fan of the Resident Evil Series, everything from the games to the books to the badly done movies. You guys are spiritually answering my dreams, just thought i would let you know how deeply i wpuld like to help you out and stuff.

Now onto my suggestions and ideas. If you guys do this in a top down fashion, to make the game keep its eerie feel and tension the other games held. You have to develop some kind of Fog, Like The Fog of war used in Advance Wars. You need to cover the uncovered rooms and when they open and the charcters view is in the way of the fog the fog gets lifted. Know what i mean? I think that would be a decent method of keeping the that tension in the game. Concentrate hard on the Sprites, make them very animated. have you guys planned on cinematics of some sort? If you did, let me know because i will try my hardest to find people willing to help you. Also to keep the classic style of the other games, please try to add Voice Acting, not super cheap but kinda like the first game. :icon_smil

Also, if its possible on homebrew try to add a Multiplayer Aspect to it, Maybe a 4 v 4 kinda thing. there shouldnt be a limit on how many player simple because its homebrew, theres no 3d code right? if there isnt theres a possibility of playing a good 8-16 player infrastructure mode. Although all this may seem like a lot right now, try to clean up the code a little to make it Multiplayer friendly you know? Simple code means Simple Multiplayer.

Have you been working on some single player stories? I wouldnt mind helping out on a few, ive made quite a few scenarios for resident evil in my day. most ive written as Private fan fictions hoping later to be able to develop them into some kind of multimedia.

If you wanna chat ro soemthing let me know at psphproject@Gmail.com
