Allthough the ir on the psp is like the Sony standard or something but im sure there is a capture thing out there where you can send the ir data for (ie. track skip from your cd player) to the psp then just copy that somehow. I dont know if its possible or just too hard to do it for every piece of equipment. If somebody did a release like this where you can do it yourself then it would be perfect. I would be willing to address every button from my receiver or cd player and dvd player to my psp. I started a thread similar to this one a while ago when the first remote program came out but nobody took notice. I know its not right to ask devs to create a program but imagine how sweet this would be. My friends are amazed that I can use my psp on my tv but I use a digital box so I dont really use it other than to show somebody or to mess around. I hope one day that somebody out there figures it out. This would be the best homebrew by far.

Good luck to you Dave, I hope you find somebody how can code for you. Im not sure how I would be able to help you but somebody out there should.

Yeah this would be great, I don't know anything about coding so I can't help. If it is made, it would be nice to keep the simplistic look of the sony remote program. It is fun going into shops and messing with the tv's

Imagine a nicer user interface, with buttons and graphics. Like one of those expensive tv like universal touchscreen remotes, ive allways wanted one of thoese but never wanted to blow like 300 bucks.

I knew somebody would come on here and try to make this guy feel like an idiot but how bout you just chill. It doesnt hurt anybody and theres no point in just flaming the guy. Its a great idea, granted its not new its still a good idea. If you search the forums about this I even said this would be a killer app. It would be great and Im not too sure about anyone working on this right now. There hasnt really been any news on it and so many people would love to see this app on their psp. Stop the trashing just for the sake of trashing.

Hint's why nobody else has took the
time to create one. it seem's very hard
to make. I have made my own for a
watson tv lol and it took forever. Trust
me it wont be easy.

Anyway good luck.

It's unfortunate because this thread will get lost and this app wont get the attention and hype it needs. Mabe some people out there are working on it but its hard to say without any recent news.

Im not sure if anybody is because of the lack of news and the fact that there hasnt been a release since the lg remote program. Ive been wishing quietly for this program since the very first wega app came out.

I Used the original source code of the PSP LG Remote or whatever it's called.
And changed the the number's
(There was a tut on PSPU On how to change the I.R to work on other tv's)
and then i used my Development enviroment to make it back to a ELF.
Sorry but as you can see i am in a rush and i dont have enough time to explain.

Use search or something and that might help

Actually there is an easy workaround for this. Awhile back I read an article on engaget on how to turn your ipod into a universal remote control. Basically this guy created an IR to "sound" peice of hardware. What you do with this is point your remote to it, press your buttons while recording the "sound". Then you would put the "sound" on your ipod and play it back through the IR to "sound" device. Its actually a pretty neat way to get a universal remote. I was thinking about doing this but I dont have a pocket PC to run the software for it.

there is no one programming a universal remote ?? becuase it passed more than weeks/days that ps2/sony tv remote released and no more updates.
today at school. i found some tv in the hallway . and was so damm fun. ppl were saying WTF.. hehehe i was messing up with the sony tv at the hall. ppl should release a custom program that you just add the signals to make it work. E.g: like have every thing ready but it will only work with a .txt with the signlas in it. and it should include the function to capture signals

Well, isnt there an IR recieving program out there? if someone could take this program and find a way to aim a remote into it, get the IR codes, and then simply export them form the IR port to the TV...I could already see a few problems like setting button keys to do certain functions,,but there could be some interface where once you recieve the IR code, it asks you to name it and set a button for it.

Just a thought

Yea, I like the Sony Remote program, In english class, we were watching the 13th Warrior. So I was sitting about 15 feet away from the TV and suddenly, I change the channel. My teacher gets angry and changes the channel back. I keep turning the volume down slowly, so it was un noticeable, then it was eventually on 0 volume. He gets up and puts it back to half volume. Next I was bored, so I decided to turn the TV on and off quickly. I press start, it turns off, and everyones like "What the hell was that". I try to turn it back on and I couldnt get it. I figgured that you need to have pretty good aim with the IR transmitter to the TV from this distance. My teacher figgures out because the idiot beside me (I call him white milk guy) was laughing too hard. Now my english teacher busts my balls every time he sees it, even when im listening to music.

I'd like to have a universal remote, so I can play with my other teacher's minds. And to piss them off

Alright guys, I've tried to make the same thing a while back, spent about a week learning about IR and the ir port on the PSP.
Here's whats going on:

There is a library that that you can include with your PSPSDK program called 'sircsend'. What this does is allow you to send IR codes with a 7 bit command code, 5,8, or 13 bit device code, and 12,15, or 20 bits in the actual signal. You call this with 'SendSIRC(#,#,#)' (I think thats what its called..).
(SIRCS means: Sony Infrared Remote Control System)

It IS possible to send other signals of IR codes, the problem: you have to write your own script. Yeah. You know. This 5-page script for EACH different ammout of bits in the signal needed. I remember that teh person who made teh Wifi test had also made a IR program for Aibo, something, and Windows Media Edition. I looked at the source and it was HUGE.

So, now you see why no one has made a universal remote. It would take alot of research to get the custom IR code.

HOWEVER, yes, someone had made a IR capture program. I dont think it was announced on PSPU, but search for it in the file section. Its called 'IRDA Capture' (v.01 I think....). What it does is wait for an IR signal, and when it recieves one, prints it to the screen, and saves it in a .txt file on hte roor of the memory stick.

Hopes this helps...or something.

Well maybe some 1 could use get script and a dev could pack it inot the eboot for them to see if it will work maybe its not that eaasy but it would be stellar if a dev could have a IR RESQUEST THRED i just want to contorl my tv in my room lol.

This would be very interesting, but like many of you have pointed out, the counltess number of IR codes their are to every TV device is outstanding.

And to piss them off
AHhahahAHa. i did the same thing at biology class. with the Sony TV.

Hopes this helps...or something.
the thing is: when IRDA cap gets the signals from my controler. it wrote like 20 Codes and i pressed 1 time. example: áäéäáí½³²¡¤²³¶úí«»ñµ
