Attack of the Mutants 0.4a Modpack Edition
Here's Attack of the Mutants 0.4a - Modpack Edition
Changes
-This released is packed with many great player made mods
-Added a temporary fix to load and play large mp3's that would previously crashed the game
-MP3's will now also play from within folders in "/psp/music"
-Fixed a bug where a folder property could be inadvertently set when compressing up a mod, hiding it from the mod list. (Thanks xxxdvlman)
-If NintendoDSMouth.png is a blank all teal file, a black rectangle will not be drawn on the Boss either
-If mp3 play is not enabled and a mod is loaded with no custom music, default AOTM music will reload
-A few other small bug fixes
NOTE: 1.0 users need to copy the "Mods" and "Sounds" folder out of the 1.5 AOTM to their 1.0 eboot folder.
For this release, I converted many of the included mods graphics to an indexed color system, making sure there was no quality loss from the original. This significantly reduces the total size of the Modpack, bringing the download to about 4 meg, and the install to about 8 meg :icon_smil
I want to give a big thanks to all the mod authors for making all these awesome mods!
I've been busy working on my other project lately, so I only got a few small fixes in the core game, but I do still plan on working more on this after the other project smooths out =)

Thanks for putting my mod in! Just one question, if I name an .mp3 file under the background music naming convention wil that play as background music?

Thanks guys :icon_smil
MikDaSpik, unfortunatly renaming an mp3 to a background music file won't work. I may add the ability to have an mp3 file as custom mod music in a future version though.
BrokenWing, doesn't work on the 2.0? I wish I had a 2.0 PSP to test changes on. I could narrow down what breaks compatibility so I could work around it, and wouldn't keep adding work for Fanjita to do
I bought a 1 gig MS a few days ago, I'm almost tempted to take it back and investing the extra money to get a second PSP mainly for 2.0 compatibility testing, and maybe irda/wifi testing in the future.
If anyone still has a problem with an mp3 crashing the game, please let me know. I'm pretty sure all the previus crashs problems where from the larger mp3's, but there still may be other causes I don't know about yet =)
Thanks,

Damn, been looking at this to try to get it to work on 2.0, but it's not going to happen for the v0.8 loader.
There's a strange problem that just some applications have, where if they overwrite a particular area in memory (and it's not far from the base load address, so most sizeable homebrew hits that area), then the PSP crashes. I've tried a few ways to overcome it over the past few hours (it would fix quite a few apps, not just AOTM), but nothing has worked.
There's nothing much I can suggest to make it work. Seems to just be something in the pattern of the bytes in the app - some apps do it, some don't.
I have a few more ideas to fix it, but nothing much that I have time for over the next few days.Using firmware v2.00-v3.50? Open up a whole world of homebrew here

Oh JoJaSc, I didn't relize you wern't affiliated with Zephyrus with both of your names on the title screen. I had a few versions of a handfull of mods and I thought that Duck Hunt Extreme II was just the newest version of yours. I'll be sure to include your original in the next release, sorry about that
If anyone would like to add JojaSc's Original Duck Hunt Extreme, it can download it from the file section here. It's definitly a great mod =)

Hey JoJaSc, I'm Zephyrus. I'm sorry, it wasn't a remake of your DuckHunt anyway, its just that before you submitted your DuckHunt v2 mod for the AOTM, I emailed DeNitro with it, it was just some copy and paste plus a lame start screen that I made from the first DuckHunt edited AOTM v0.3, yeah that was before 0.4 came out, then when 0.4 came out, I was wondering why haven't you made the mod already, so I went ahead and copied the stuff from the 0.3 modded AOTM and submitted it. I even spelt your name wrongly, your name is JoJaSc but I got JoJaSe instead, sorry.. I gave credits to you, in all ways when I sent the email to DeNitro, I swear. ^^

Actually my unofficial high score is just over 1,000,000 but I don't count that one because the game was never finished. A friend accidentally quit out of the game and I lost it around level 500. The last screenshot I got had me at 629,985 on level 320, so this is my official highscore, which is the highest I can prove.

denitro, I'm getting another problem with your modpack. It seems the nintendodseye.png in advance wars is somehow messed up. I cannot delete or copy it. It says it's corrupt or unreadable. I was trying to backup my memory stick, but when it gets to this png it won't go any further.
I tried to delete it so I could finish, but it won't delete. At first it looks like it deleted, but if you back up and then go back into the advance wars folder it's there again. I may have to clear off everything else off my stick then re format to get rid of it. Any ideas? If you love AOTM then join the official AOTM fan site forum here: http://www.attackofthemutants.de.tt/

xxxdvlman, everything seems ok on my end. I'm not sure what could be causing that. Usually if a file itself is corrupt, it would crash the game when it tried to load it... OR just look like garbage data on the screen when it tried to draw it, but copying and delete it should be no problem. The memory card not being able to delete or copy it seems be pointing more a problem with the memory card, or the file system of the memory card, like in the file allocation table. If it's one of those problems, it might be fixed if you connect into USB mode, go to "My Computer" in windows, right click the PSP's drive letter and select Properties. From here go to the "Tools" tab and click "Check Now" under Error Checking. Make sure to select both of the check boxes before clicking start and when it's finished, try deleteing or copying the file again.
Has anyone else had a problem with this file? If so, it may yet be a probem with the file.
I hope that helps, I'll keep an eye out for people mentioning a problem trying to copy/delete/backup the modpack incase it is a problem with the file itself.

This isn't caused bt AOTM just to clear that up. Hate to say it but your memory card is probably in the first stages of corruptivity. My 128 Mb card did the same thing and got totally screwed up...3 months later It couldn't even be read by my psp...but cheer up, Now is the perfect time to get that 2 gig memory card you've always wanted :icon_bigg

Good advice Brokenwing. I just copied everything but advance wars and reformated my stick. After transfering everything back to the stick all is well now.

Something similar happened to me, but worse. Basically I suddenly had files on my memory stick called wierd things like []![], and they were over read as being over 30 gig in size (which they obviously couldn't have been)! I couldn't delete, cut, or move them, so I reformatted my memory stick and all is good now.

My current high score is only around 29,000. Most of the time when I load it up (which is pretty often), it's for testing code and trying out new features, so while I play there's always something I want to adjust or change or fix, and I exit out to make the changes, so I rarely make it the distance =P
You guys are some amazing players to have such high scores though! The game does get pretty hard for an average player. I tell my friends who play about the high scores some of you guys on the forums here get, and they try to compete... but they havn't got close yet :icon_wink
