Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know that im making some progress with cracking 2.6 with the added rss feeder (thanks sony for giving us such a leak!). As most of you know that have tried to crack it, sony encrypts all the files so that you cannot edit them in any (safe) way after they are on your psp. Well, im happy to let you all know I can decrypt them! :icon_smil
Curently, I have the launcher made and set, and am looking for a good exploit (tiff is starting to get too hard). The biggest problem is the psp tries to connect to the internet without determining if it really needs to connect to the internet, which means you may need to connect to the internet to play your homebrew for the first couple releases...

Anyway, root for me, as this would be my first real contribution to the psp community.
By the By, does anyone know where I can find some (decent) documentation on how the the 1.5 and 2.0 cracks worked? No use in trying things that people have already tried...

Alrighty guys, made some progress this morning...
Although you still need to connect to the internet for it to work, I can now load an xml file off the memory stick, and get it to run files (so far, just music - but its comming)! I have to dig deeper into xml to learn more about the advanced fuctions...but hopefully we can get something here soon.

Part of me wants to believe you, and part of me knows we've been handed this BS before. if you keep making promises without at least releasing some kind of proof, like your current progress, the pessimists will swarm you. I hope you have more than just a hunch, cause you may get a lot of hopes up.

No offence but nobody promised anything, Im just letting you all know that somebody out there is working on this...we wont get anywhere if everyone is waiting for "somebody else to do it"

Don't tell anyone on the internet you're working on anything at all.
You either post a confirmed "hack" or you don't.
Saves you from massive flaming from me early on.

sounds good, from this point on i wont post anymore updates...sorry to your hopes up - hopefully ill have something out soon though...

Nuh uh! He just made teh bst hck ever. Now I can go through a long drawn out process to play a song... That is teh best. Next he will make it so the song will load an eboot and downgrade my PSP to FW .5

You guys are being ass's, the point is that we have a launcher from the main menu - that can load from the memory stick. true a real "exploit" hasnt been found yet, but XML supports jpeg, tiff, gif, mp3, mp4, html, and some other crap - not to mention file handling - there has to be an exploit in something there.
Geeez, the firmware has not even been out for a week and my ass is already getting burned for trying to help you guys...like I said before, I just wanted to let you know somebody is working on it!

well thx, but you should know that we have been through this so many times that its getting tiresome..... :-/

also, i think many more people are working on this, but they dont say much.... teams like sonyxteam and mph....
